With 3 PL losses now for Colgate, I would think they are close to mathematical elimination from repeating as league champs. A huge difference, IMHO, in our defensive secondary, something I complained about for years, is we now have some pretty tall defenders. Riley and Stefaniak are listed at 6'3" and they can now get up there on "jump ball" passes that used to be thrown over Crusader defenders' heads. Chris Riley's showtime interception where he blocked the pass, tipped it in the air and caught the interception while falling over the intended receiver was one of the greatest defensive plays I've ever seen. If he was 5'10", MAYBE he knocks down the pass for an incompletion. I can't say enough about our 2 young linebackers but so glad we will have them for 2 and 3 more years respectively. Next up, Lehigh Mountain Hawks and TG has them playing better and better with a tendency to win close games (OT, last second FGs, etc.). Remember when he was criticized for losing close games? I can assure you that there is incentive by at least some HC players to especially win this one and, it is mutual, as I am sure TG really wants to beat the Crusaders even though he still bleeds purple.

Great to see us thump a team that beat us by 7 at their place last year. Our team speed and O-Line play is definitely superior (by PL standards) and we saw just that v Colgate.
When recruiting turns around it is most apparent as younger kids break in at the speed/skill positions. We're seeing that this year.
Since we are better (IMHO) and we demolished Lehigh 56-0 last year, I can't imagine losing to them this year (notwithstanding Lehigh's home field and new coach) - this is not to be confused with taking them lightly since we've seen all sorts of PL upsets (Bucknell last year, for example).

This is not the same Lehigh team that HC soundly beat last year. My understanding is that they had a lot of injuries (we often think that affects only Crusaders) and the program was in chaos. They've settled down and while I would expect (hope?) we will beat them again, we take them lightly at our peril. Since they are undefeated in the league, as are we, this is a critical game and I am sure Coach Chesney will have the guys up for the challenge. I can assure you that TG has his team looking forward to the challenge of facing Holy Cross.

Great win today! Some 2020 verbal commits were in attendance today, including Joe Rivers (OLB/SS Bishop Fenwick HS) and Hunter Lane (TE Philips Andover). These kinds of performances really help to energize our recruiting efforts. Also saw a tall kid (6' 3"?) wearing a green and dark yellow jacket (think Green Bay Packers colors) greeted by some HC coaches at the end of half time as the team came back on the field. His football jacket had "Green Wave Footbal" on the back with a large"N" on the front side with "81 WR LB on the sleeve. He seemed to be with his parents. Searched the net but could not come up with a school and name.... Likely Narrows HS in VA John: mobile.twitter.com/narrowsfootball?lang=en

You have to love those "during an Ivy League matchup between Colgate at Holy Cross at Fitton Field" Great shots of Colgate coaches standing around and HC backs running all over the place. You do. nice work! Thanks for posting these.

I have been looking forward to this game. Lehigh has reacted well to Coach Gilmore's leadership. However, why fear the mountainhawks, when Holy Cross has THE MOUNTAIN?!

Little details mean a lot- did you happen to see NDs blocked punt last night?
The Irish (more than one of them, seemed like), didn't know that a blocked punt that crosses the LOS is the same as if the punt was never blocked!
They tried to jump on the ball, couldn't; and Michigan recovered. So instead of a 20 or so yard short punt, they ended up giving the Wolverines a 20 yard gain and a first down.
Score was 0-0 at the time. Maybe same result as if it didn't happen; ND played so horribly; but shouldn't have happened.

I thought the announcers said that ND and Michigan won't play again for over 10 years. That was quite a shock. Could Michigan be easing up a bit on their schedule?

ND is the one that pulled the plug (to Michigan's chagrin), citing its 5 game per year scheduling obligation to the ACC. Series will be renewed for 2 years in the 30's, when many of us crossporters are likely to have luxury box seats high in the sky.

I thought the announcers said that ND and Michigan won't play again for over 10 years. That was quite a shock. Could Michigan be easing up a bit on their schedule? No. Notre Dame's ACC deal for hoops requires they play a certain # of ACC FB schools per season (4-5 I believe), thus forcing long-time rivalries (with the exception of Southern Cal) to intermittent status.

My understanding is that Joe Rivers is being recruited as a defender, likely either OLB or hybrid Overhang SS. He has same skill set on film as our #4 Corey Stefanik but is a bit bigger. On film he is very athletic and is a hard hitter.

It is 5. They did 4 one year and 6 another due to long term commitments that made the start up complicated, but it is 5 going forward. Plus they wouldn't budge on USC, Stanford or Navy, so Michigan had to go if they were going to keep enough open slots to have the flexibility that they wanted to rotate at least four opponents. (Also, it is not just hoops, ND is ACC for everything but FB - and hockey of course).

More Green Wave green & yellow HS options here. Someone with time can go the all the schools, check colors and if a rostered player matches the info 45 provided: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Wave

While both AA and DC had big #s, I don't think Degs Jr is getting enough love here....played a very smart game, hit some deep balls, ran smartly when needed etc....I'm not putting him in the HC pantheon of QBs just yet but he largely outplayed (with some help, duly noted) the returning PL QB PoY.
I nevah would have thought he would have that kind of game last Spring.

6 straight PL victories. First time since the last three games of 2000 and the first three games of 2001. Seems pretty good. Sunglasses or not. I almost missed the 2000-01 streak because Towson was in the PL for football then. That's a helluva note right there. Good find HC92.

Only three Green Wave high schools begin with the letter. Two have green and white as school colors, only Narrows has GB colors.
