For reasons of which we are all aware, we have a set-up for what could be a classic game coming up next week. Seems like Gilmore has Lehigh moving in the right direction, now undefeated in the PL, and will have his team amped up for what could be the de facto PL championship, at home, in year one as head coach. Then you have the whole revenge thing. If Holy Cross gets the job done, don’t expect another loss in the regular season this year.

Looking forward to seeing how our D does against the multiple looks such as the RPO from Lehigh. Georgetown slowed but could not stop them. Wish the game was in the Woo not Bethlehem.

I believe the HC D is much quicker and swarms better than the rest of the league and will show up each of the next four weeks. Offensively if the line performs the outcome should be positive.
Excited about the future of HC Football

Massey has HC as a 6 point favorite (20-14) with a 65% chance of winning. That's a nice start to the week.

Been impressed the the HC defense front seven all season long but today thought the secondary played the best I've seen them. Having Chris Riley healthy from the start has made a huge difference.

To me it has been the blend of talent, improved quickness, speed, technique and depth that makes the defense so promising this year and into the future.

Our last victory in Bethlehem was all the way back in 2009, correct?
This is a game ww SHOULD win IMO. No doubt, however, that they will throw the kitchen sink at us.

Shouldn't overlook that two of the Lehigh assistants coached at HC last year, and a third coached at HC in 2017.

While tendencies and schemes might be the same along with the offensive line, imo this is a significantly different HC team on both sides of the ball from last year-quicker, faster and more aggressive defensively

Anyone going to make the trip to the game for the league championship? I have only missed the Bucknell game. If Lehigh wins, they essentially win the league. It's as close to a must win as possible. Go Cross Go!!!!!

A bit premature to say the Lehigh, or Holy Cross for that matter, winning the game "essentially wins the league." Certainly puts the winner in a good position but a lot of football remains to be played and any team can pick off any other team.
Would be a kick in the head of TG took his team to a championship, wouldn't it?

Lehigh has the easiest schedule so this game is enormous for both teams with Fordham having an outside shot
Lehigh has HC Lafayette Bucknell
HC has Lehigh Lafayette Fordham Gtown
Fordham has Lafayette Colgate Holy Cross Bucknell

Realistically however, a change was needed, lessons were learned and both football programs appear to have benefited. Good luck to FHCTG except for this Saturday.

Looking at Lehigh's wins this year, they are not that impressive. They beat Merrimack by 7 at home. They beat Colgate by 1 yard. We buried Colgate They beat Gtown on a last second field goal. They beat Fordham in OT.
Crushed by UC Davis and Villanova and they lost to ST Francis at home, By looking over their slate, they are not that good. Out of all the teams they beat, NONE ARE IN THE TOP 80 ACCORDING TO MASSEY.

Can you imagine the tension in the Lehigh coaches' offices this week.
Tom is an outstanding coach. I'm not surprised Lehigh has a much better record last year. Their season was obviously tough last year. In some ways similar to Holy Cross when Dan Allen was ill.
That being said it was time for a change in Worcester. I wish Coach Gilmore nothing but the best except for this weekend. He will have Lehigh back where they've been in a few years. Whether it and he can last is the question. Can't wait for the game this weekend.

Out of all the teams they beat, NONE ARE IN THE TOP 80 ACCORDING TO MASSEY. Neither team is especially "good". Holy Cross's best win is was over a UNH team trying to find itself after they lost their long time coach and Santos was forced to learn on the fly. Lehigh's best win is either over a talented but can't quite get it right Fordham team or a solid but far from spectacular Georgetown squad. The Hoyas have some real good pieces and play smart. Fordham has more talent/depth but always seems to shoot itself in the foot. The one thing I think Lehigh has going for it is expectation and culture. Their seniors are going for 3 PL Titles in 4 years and 3 trips to the playoffs. Not many PL senior classes can say that. The goal is to win the PL EVERY year at Lehigh. Granted this year was a little different because it wasn't your typical coaching transition. I think a winning record given the reasonable schedule was the ceiling. And it still might be if Lehigh loses on Saturday. History has shown the last 25 years it's usually the Mountain Hawks or Colgate in the PL. The ability to bounce back and be in the mix after what the program went through last year is an amazing accomplishment imo. Lembo won the title in his first year, Coen got a share and Gilmore is TBD. Lehigh is playing with a bit of house money. Conversely, this is set up to be Holy Cross's year to finally get back over the hump. I think the Crusaders are a slightly more refined product at this point but Lehigh still has pedigree and a lot of big game experience on their roster. It will be interesting to see how Gilmore and the staff have Lehigh prepared. This is going to be a fun week! Hopefully there's a good HC turnout at Goodman! The early forecasts suggest a perfect day for football!

On the injury front I saw joe Lang leave the field in the 2nd half with what looked like a knee injury, and he did not return to the game. He has been a very solid defender for two seasons - we need him

I think that the game is equally important for both teams. I think there's more pressure on Holy Cross's program to get back over the hump. It's been a decade since their last PL Title and lone playoff PL era playoff berth. At some point you need tangible proof of progress. Holy Cross was expected to compete this year and with Colgate falling off the cliff the door opened even further. It's not like this is a vintage Lehigh team. If Holy Cross doesn't do it this season then when? History says Colgate will be back quickly and Fordham isn't going away. Tons of potential in the Bronx if Conlin can get the micro right. And Lehigh might (with a win over HC) enter 2020 as the defending league champ with the guy HC fired.

The PL is dominated by one team and one team only. Drum roll the Holy Cross Crusaders. Won their last 6 PL games They will own the league for years to come because of how they recruit and the challenging schedule that they play. Not 1 Not 2 Not 3 Not 4 Not 5. ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️
