Who in Christ's name schedules a Saturday afternoon hoop game? UNH I guess.... Actually lots of schools including HC. Just not during football season. I had planned on heading from Fitton to UNH until I realized the basketball game was at 1:00

Sorry about that. At least the women don't start until 3:00 so there is another overlap there with the men. I hope they have that on video-streaming.

It is a good opportunity for families with children and senior citizens to take in a game. Or as Neil Diamond said: "Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies."
As far as a livestream of the women's game at Illinois at 3PM, Goholycross.com only lists live stats, but on fightingillini.com they offer video streaming via the (subscription) Big Ten Network Plus and a radio stream via Learfield College sports that has a free trial or may be free for all but the premium option (they speak more clearly on that option).
One puzzler is both the Holy Cross site and the Illinois site list the game as starting at 3PM but Worcester is currently in Eastern Standard Time and Champaign, Illinois is currently in Central Standard time.

Worcester expecting snow on Friday/Saturday? Not anymore. Weather looks sunny and dry but colder Saturday. Call it 40 degrees and sunny. Nice day for a game.

I’m not real sure where to put this but saw Jon Young and Andrew Cravedi were Scout team players of the week.
I’ve never heard of Cravedi before. I actually played with an AC Cravedi in early 90s.
He looks like he has good size and is on O. TE?

The roster does not include anyone named Cravedi that I could find. Young is a freshman DB from VA.

I was just about to post that this is a mystery -- there is no Cravedi on the roster and I have no recollection of hearing that name prior to this.

If we're over the roster limit, can we have "practice players" who never dress for games?

The roster limit is 90. We have 88 players listed on our roster.

A look at some numbers from Lafayette's season to date--I think there are a couple of insights that we can glean from the stats
Running Game Laf runs almost exactly 50% of its plays from scrimmage and averages 3.6 yards per carry Opponents have run 59% of the time and have averaged 4.1 yards per carry
Passing Laf QB's are 182 for 295 (.616) and average a very good 7.6 yards per pass attempt Opponent QB's are 162 for 264 (.614) and average a very good 7.8 yards per passing attempt One big difference: Laf QB's have thrown 12 interceptions while opponent QB's have been picked off just 3 times
Sacks-- Here's a huge difference, and perhaps one of those promised insights: Laf defense has sacked the opponent QB 18 times for 109 yards while the Laf QB's have been sacked 35 times for 185 yards. HC has 20 sacks for 153 yards versus 23 &133 for our opponents. I think we'll get 4 or more sacks on Saturday
Third & Fourth Down Conversions Third Down: Laf = 43/126= 34% versus opponents 59/132= 45% Fourth Down: Laf= 9/21= 43% versus opponents 8/19= 42%

Holy Cross sophomore running back Peter Oliver was watching from the sideline when senior teammate Domenic Cozier ripped off an 88-yard run in the first quarter of last week’s game at Lehigh. Cozier’s gain was the second-longest running play in HC history.
“It was really exciting,” said Oliver, the former St. John’s High standout from Auburn. “He was really patient. He waited for the hole to open up. It was good blocking and he took it from there. It was a momentum driver for the game.”
Cozier’s run set up HC’s first points of the game, and in the second quarter, Oliver scored from 1 yard out to give the Crusaders a 14-0 lead. Behind Cozier and Oliver, Holy Cross rushed for a season-high 266 yards, beat the Mountain Hawks, 24-17, and took over sole possession of first place in the Patriot League standings.
HC (5-4, 3-0) hosts Lafayette at noon Saturday at Fitton Field, and the Crusaders can clinch the PL’s auto bid with a win over the Leopards and Lehigh and Fordham losses.
“We’re feeling good,” Oliver said, “but each game of that week is the only game we’re focused on.”
Cozier, of Milford, earned second-team All-Patriot League honors last season after leading HC in rushing with 643 yards and eight touchdowns on 130 carries.
His senior season started slowly – he missed the opener at Navy due to illness – but he has really come on in recent weeks. Against Lehigh, Cozier carried 22 times for a season-high 190 yards. The previous week, in a win over Colgate, Cozier rushed for 153 yards on 17 carries.
On the season, Cozier has rushed for a career-high 683 yards.
Cozier clocked a 4.4-second 40 in the spring and he is HC’s fastest player, but his production this year isn’t just due to his speed.
“He’s powerful and he’s strong,” Holy Cross coach Bob Chesney said. “More than anything his vision and his ability to understand what the defense is doing and where those seams might open is really what impresses me the most about him.”
Cozier also had runs of 66 yards against Harvard and 52 yards against Colgate.
“One of the things I really worked on in the offseason and the preseason is just patience,” Cozier said, “being patient and letting all the defenders flow over and just hitting the gap. On (the 88-yard run), everyone blocked their guy and I just saw daylight. So I just think being patient in the backfield and not going every rep at full speed and just going slow and then fast to the hole is one of the reasons for that success.”
The 5-foot-9 Cozier is at his highest playing weight (181 pounds), the gain all muscle.
“Some of the tackles I’ve been able to break this year I wasn’t able to break the last three years,” Cozier said. “I have more power going to the hole.”
Cozier and Oliver have been a formidable 1-2 in the backfield.
The 6-foot, 220-pound Oliver is a downhill, physical runner whom the Crusaders use in short yardage and goal-line situations. Chesney has also been pleased with the job Oliver is doing in pass protection.
“We definitely complement each other,” Cozier said. “He’s the bigger back you see at the goal line. He’s going to get the one yard. He’s done a great job on third downs with his blocking. I’m proud of him.”
Oliver rushed for a career-high 88 yards in HC’s win at Brown. He has scored three TDs this season. Oliver has also surpassed his numbers (62 carries, 236 yards) from last year.
“I understand the offense better,” Oliver said, “and tips and tricks from Dom and (senior running back) Miles (Alexander) helped me grow a little bit as a running back.”
Oliver took two lost fumbles, including one deep in HC territory in the Harvard game, to heart, Chesney said, and came back strong. He continues to focus on yards after contact.
“Something we do in practice,” Oliver said, “is we have guys with bags kind of resist us while we’re running with the ball, keeping the ball high and tight. Also, finishing every run that we do in practice to get used to getting more yards even after we have contact.”
HC has rushed for more than 200 yards in each of the last two games.
Lafayette (2-7, 2-1) lost seven straight to open the year before posting wins over Bucknell and Fordham. Sophomore defensive tackle Malik Hamm, the 2018 PL Rookie of the Year, is the standout of Lafayette’s defense. Freshman quarterback Keegan Shoemaker has passed for a league-leading 2,108 yards. He has thrown 12 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.
The Crusaders rallied from a 14-0 deficit to beat the Leopards last year in Easton, Pa., and have won nine of the last 12 games in the series.
Cozier honored by PL
Cozier was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career. He also earned STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Week honorable mention. The longest run in HC history, by the way, was Joe Wilson’s 94-yard rush against Boston University in 1970. ... Holy Cross freshman linebacker Jacob Dobbs was selected to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List for the top freshman in the Division 1 football championship subdivision. Dobbs, who has started all nine games and leads the team with 60 tackles, is one of 24 players on the watch list.

We should steamroll Lafayette from the opening kick. Defense should have about 8 sacks. Learn from last week and keep attacking in the 2nd half. Let's get our 1s and 2s out early this week, keep them healthy, and gets some reps for the 3s and 4s.
I will be rooting for both Colgate and Bucknell, both with very winnable games against Fordham and Lehigh. Let's seal this up tomorrow.

Baseball field will be closed for tailgating due to rain yesterday and freezing temperatures. Knew this was coming ADMB did not like what he saw in the baseball lot against Harvard and Colgate. I’d expect major changes next year to the tailgating tradition.
To the HOJO (mud pit) we go! .
