Looks like a 0% chance of rain on Weather.com just an excuse if you ask me. Freezing temperatures should mean less damage to turf than warmer weather. Another attack on the premier lot?

Baseball field will be closed for tailgating due to rain yesterday and freezing temperatures. Knew this was coming ADMB did not like what he saw in the baseball lot against Harvard and Colgate. I’d expect major changes next year to the tailgating tradition. To the HOJO (mud pit) we go! . If the weather is as predicted, then frozen HOJO mud may not be a problem.

ADMB ‘did not like what he saw’ etc.. what are you referring to ? Damage to the outfield, behavior of tailgaters or ?

I would guess he's referring to the several hundred (or more) people hanging out in the tailgate lot and never even considering going to the game. I doubt that has anything to actually do with this though.

I was just about to post that this is a mystery -- there is no Cravedi on the roster and I have no recollection of hearing that name prior to this. Andrew is now listed with a picture on the HC roster. As previously noted, he is AC’s son. On the team picture, he is on the sitting on the row with the team managers, just below the first row of coaches.

He did not like the number of people on the baseball field that stayed out to tailgate rather than go into the game. Believe it or not it’s actually 60-70% students that fill the lot at halftime and 2nd half not the alum/fans.

There may be changes coming to tailgating (and highly doubt they’d include eliminating the baseball field as an option), but that has far less to do why the field is closed today than preserving the baseball field for you know, baseball.

Weather in Worcester calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the low 30s.
Was it raining yesterday or over night?

No it was raining heavily 2 and 3 days ago then got very cold quickly, freezing that water at or near the surface of the field.
And the first time next spring there’s a bad hop in the outfield or a kid rolls an ankle or tears up a knee because of a rut in the field, you’ll be the first ones to say ... is this anyway to run a DI program.
When you guys have responsibility for running a full athletic program or are managing a turf care program, come back and tell us how well the field can stand up to a couple hundred cars driving across it. Until then, I think you have to believe what those who do have the background and responsibility to do that tell you.

I’ve always found it surprising that cars were allowed to park on the baseball field, even in the best of conditions.

And since I stopped tailgating, that's why I always park in the garage with my parking pass. You ought to try it, 8485.
P.S. I am sure that the guys (and gals?) who made and keep the field so beautiful in Fitton football stadium are the same ones that work on the baseball field.

Back to today's game itself. .. I find it interesting that HC ran for so many yards vs Lehigh since Lehigh was said to have the #1 defense against the run in the PL (OK, not a huge claim to fame), but they were also in the top 10 of all FCS teams against the run. I hope HC uses the run early and often for big yards and time of possession. Then, when the Pards D line starts to wear down, go to the air with solid pass protection. Of course, that is just a personal fantasy. I want a win of any type nlo matter how we get it...and may all HC players hold on to the ball on every play...even some of Lafayette's!

I’ve always found it surprising that cars were allowed to park on the baseball field, even in the best of conditions. The baseball field looks pristine when the camera has caught it on the PLN. Holy Cross not only has responsibility to the HC players and opponents who play there, but also as a landlord to the Summer Collegiate Futures baseball players who play for the Worcester Bravehearts and their opponents.
