I want to go to the Fordham game. Any advice about buying tickets and pre game tailgating? Is there a local club reception before or after the game?

No problems in the past getting tickets There has not been any organized tail gating the past few games there. Fordham fans arrive early and fill up most of the outside parking lot. Those arriving later have to park in the garage no reception in a very long time

The HC tailgate is in the Fordham Homecoming tent? No thanks. I’ll be drinking Schlitz cans out of my trunk on Southern Blvd if anyone is looking for me. .

You can get a parking spot on Southern Blvd ? Your boys and girl must cooperate with leaving Connecticut at around 6 or 7 am.

I've gotten a spot on Southern Blvd for games before but on a football Saturday you have to get there early and/or get a little lucky. The garage is not a bad option, quick walk to Jack Coffey -- can't remember the exact parking rate -- somewhere in ballpark of $15.
Your second best bet for street parking if you don't mind walking a little further would be to try your luck in the Little Italy area (roughly 184th-189th Street or on avenues between Bathgate and Belmont). Much of this is metered with 2 hr max, however.
Metro North Harlem AND New Haven lines stop regularly at the Fordham Road stop for those in Westchester or I-95 corridor. I don't get the sense that anyone who posts on this board lives in Manhattan but for any of the silent viewers here, the closest subway stop is Fordham Road on the D line. The Fordham Road stop on the 4 line is a longer walk by about 10 minutes. Not to mention, Metro North's CityTicket deal on the weekends is only $4.50 each way so a 15 minute ride from Grand Central (<10 min from 125th) isn't a bad option either.
As far as tickets, I don't suspect there will be an issue Saturday but Fordham does tend to draw very well against Holy Cross, especially when it's a Homecoming game. The 2007 game DID sell out if I recall and 2013 they sold out the grandstand and were putting fans behind the Holy Cross bench in a roped-off standing-room-only area on the baseball field. I think a handful of fans who didn't want to stand wound up sitting in the baseball bleachers which are really far back from the sideline. However, the game in 2007 was a de facto Patriot League Championship game for Fordham and the Rams had a very good team in 2013 that was chasing an at-large playoff berth. This year, Fordham is out of the race so I don't suspect we will see an 8K+ crowd though I wouldn't be surprised if they come close. Fordham alum definitely seem to have adopted Holy Cross as their "football rival".

Your other option would be to tailgate with the 92 family on scenic Southern Blvd with a view and noise of heavy traffic.
