res, as I am sure you are aware, the folks who make those judgements do so with the assumed starting point that simply being in a specific league makes all teams within that league better or worse than a different league. In other words, the league determines the quality of all teams within it.

res, as I am sure you are aware, the folks who make those judgements do so with the assumed starting point that simply being in a specific league makes all teams within that league better or worse than a different league. In other words, the league determines the quality of all teams within it. Not really. Pomeroy and similar analysts give each team a different starting point - based on how they did last year, what players return, and the program's overall track record. For example, the A-10's VCU started as the #23 team in the nation, and a win or a strong game against them would have helped their opponents' ranking. In contrast, George Washington started the season as #212, and a loss or close game with them would not have been impressive. In the MAAC, Rider started at #157 while the MAAC's worst teams came in at #326 and #338. So there was definitely no assumed starting point based on what league a team was in. It varied widely.

If you thought I was referencing you, just another case of me miscommunicating. I may need to go back to school.
My point is that some people think that just because another league is higher rated that every team in the league could beat any team in a lower rated league.

I would prefer to play a Power 5 team instead of UMass-Boston. Playing top schools helps in recruiting.

I would prefer to play a Power 5 team instead of UMass-Boston. Playing top schools helps in recruiting. Colgate's schedule is a mixed bag. Over the next three weeks, they play six opponents whose average Pomeroy ranking is worse than #250. Even the best one is sub-200. The six: SUNY Cortland, Cal Northridge, Green Bay, Siena, Binghamton, and Niagara.

Lafayette up 7 over Penn, under a minute Lafayette has quietly gotten off to the most impressive start in the PL, IMO. 3-0 against the Ivy is great. It's hard to see where PL wins will come for HC this season.

Holy Cross, by the way, is ranked 327th by KenPom. I believe this is the lowest we have ever been ranked in the KenPom era.

Coming after the loss by the greatest margin in school history that makes sense.

I felt like sending that same message, but stopped because I realize that such facts won't mean anything to some PL critics. We would then get a post that said (in almost these words) "except when winning, the PL teams are all losers." The inevitable lack of logic is as annoying as it seems to be unavoidable.

It is what it is...no longer tilting at windmills..but PL basketball is low-mid-major basketball....it's not even in the same universe of the level we were playing at before we opted out of the entertainment biz in 19i80. It's a nice league but it is light years away from big boy D1 hoop...let's not kid ourselves.
