Amazing what can happen in just two seasons. We'll be a different team (in a better way) than we were last time we played BC and BC will be a different team (maybe in a worse way, at least temporarily). If there was a year for an upset, this would be the one. Everyone should attend this game because if it happens, this will be the final time HC plays BC.

Let's try and not allow unrealistic expectations to spoil the BC game experience next year. Coaching turmoil be damned, BC is on a completely different level than us.
BC is still going to a bowl-bound right now and is a 7-point to a Top 25 Cincinnati team. Not to mention the Eagles BOAT-RACED Syracuse this year 58-27. Anyone remember how we did against the Orange? The last time an FCS team was even competitive with Boston College was 2007 when a Top 5 I-AA UMASS lost to them by 10. Let's start by trying to score an offensive touchdown in Chestnut Hill this time. Still upset our third score was taken off the board by a holding call late in last year's game. 62-14 and they really had to call that?

For those of you who think UConnvict pays a ton to 1AA schools, they don't. Lafayette is getting 285K in 2023 and 300 large in 2026. I'm near certain HC is getting less. Would HC enter into a 3 for 1 with UConn to get a game at Fitton Field?

Doubt it. Need the money and UConn plays so close to Worcester that I would say 35%-40% of the crowd was Holy Cross at the last game.

are you saying that the call on the field was wrong, i.e. no penalty happened?

Too funny...you know what? I still am kinda pissed lol....who makes that call in a 62-14 game? Would have been nice to score an offensive TD that day.

We can only hope that BC's new coach (Hafley) will be as charitable to us as Addazio was during the debacle at BC two years ago. As I recall Addazio yanked his stars (QB and RB) before the end of the first quarter up 21-0 to somehow avoid scoring 80 or 90 on us. It worked. If the new guy wants to pin 80 or 90 on us that would be awful (he doesn't seem to be an idiot so I'd bet against that sort of display).
It was also helpful Chesney knew the deal and didn't try flinging it around downfield or running ridiculous trick plays. Burn the clock. Avoid injury. Keep it upbeat on the sidelines. Head home. (And if there is a small check involved grab that too.)

55-14 wasn't good enough and he let his 3rd stringers PASS away to another TD instead of just running the ball and not going out of bounds ( stop clock ) against our reserves.

/\ I guess that is a cautionary tale for those (if any) who think we might have a chance to win next year (BC's 3rd -stringers had absolutely no problem scoring when they actually wanted to.).

i would agree if BC kept the starters in the game but when the reserves are in the game they want to play football, i.e. score points. i don't blame them for that. fans at the game want to see their team play football, not just run out the clock.

I'm with moose, Addazio didn't do a darned thing wrong.
We could lose 62-14 again, this year, and it won't be like THAT 62-14...why, BC could have gotten 100 easy if they put their foot on the gas for 40 minutes instead of 20 or so.
Not only that, but unbeknownst to anyone, helped HC a lot this year when game planning for Brown, given how much he played Perry.

I don't actually see the conflict here....UConn-Fresno St is scheduled for Aug 28th (Sat)...we were scheduled at UConn Sept 2 (Thur)...can't they simply move the game to Sept 4 (Sat)?

That's a short week for UConn. If if was Billy B. and the Pats, he'd be raising holy hell. UConn has officially confirmed only four 2021 games on its schedule, one of which is HC and another is Clemson. FBS schedules list eight games (including Fresno state and HC), so UConn has still holes to fill.

I AGREE but this is a sad commentary that the best we can hope for is charity when we should be scheduling and playing football GAMES!

Re: Future Schedules. Dartmouth. The Big Green finally plays the Crusaders in 2022. The problem is that it is the wrong Crusaders, the Valparaiso Crusaders. Interestingly Dartmouth has scheduled other PL opponents Fordham, etc but not HC. Why has Dartmouth stopped playing their erstwhile NE opponent HC? LoveHC A.) An IL school can play three OOC games a year. B.) Because the IL starts playing football about three weeks after everyone else, early season scheduling opportunities are limited. C.) Dartmouth made scheduling decisions some years ago, to move away from tough opponents. At that time, Dartmouth was not that competitive. It dropped UNH for example, but I believe UNH is now back on Dartmouth's schedule. d.) HC secured long term scheduling agreements with Yale and Harvard. Which basically leaves no more than one slot open for another IL opponent. As HC plays an 11 game schedule the majority of years, six of the games are PL, one game is FBS, two games are Harvard/Yale, a 10th game is generally against a CAA school, leaving the opponent for the 11th game as either IL, CAA, or another FCS conference. In a 12 game schedule, the 12th game is likely to be FBS because 12th game is in August, e.) Because of FCS playoffs, HC schedules are over by mid-November.

Dartmouth-HC is one of the great overlooked football rivalries of the last 75 years or so....unfortunately we are dealing with mostly bean-counters at both schools today.

I have no inside knowledge but I would have to believe this is all on Dartmouth.
However with an FBS on the schedule each year that's one less FCS game.

I never considered Dartmouth a particularly significant rival but we did beat them each year I was at HC as part of (I recall) a 10-0 run v them in the 80's.
