A trip to the John is called a "biology break" because it's based on BIOLOGY. I better not comment further or I will incur the wrath of the police.

Can you imagine if all out of state schools refused to play UNC at their place and they had to start playing OOC games on the road? People would start thinking they were a mid-major school. Shouldn't schools start boycotting Duke? I know they are not a state school but, you know, just on principle.

The whole state is being held accountable by the PC police. IMHO, LGBT issues are too important to be turned into a contest of wills among politicians. Tell, that to the repub pols who passed that law

At the risk of crossing the political line, I of course have an opinion about the law but don't believe that the colleges and universities in North Carolina should be held accountable for this law being passed as to the best of my knowledge, they had no say one way or the other. Nor do I think they were consulted by anyone, especially not the politicians who made the decision.
That said, it brings joy to my heart when small colleges and universities can basically tell the NCAA big shots that they are cancelling games on their home courts. I don't like the reason (excuse?) but sure like the end result.

The political moratorium of this Board sure didn't last long. Are you reading, Dean? Whatever happened to even-handed application of the rules?

First, I will say it again, I have a day job and a life outside of the board, as do the others I've asked to help moderate the board. We are not perfect nor do we read/monitor the board 24x7. We miss things and sometimes it takes time for us to see things. If you (or any posters) have an issue with specific posts or application of the rules, send me a message.
Second, yes I am watching and unfortunately politics does cross into the world of athletics so it gets murky.
I feel this thread has been largely confined to the law and athletics response to it, not debating the the law itself, and those couple of posts that didn't stick to that straddled the line. In fact, you Sarasota were the first reply to the topic and took it into the realm of debating the law itself. Others ignored or wisely chose not to engage in it. So I have chosen to let this go on as long as it basically stays on the response of atheltcs to it.
Third, keep in mind, that the first step in the process is not a public rebuke. You get a reminder of the rules in a PM. So you may have no idea if I took any action.
Finally, if I'm applying the rules evenhandedly - following the process of informal warnings, formal warning, suspension, ban for breaking board rules - and going totally black & white with the rules, you wouldn't be reading this. You'd be banned. Permanently.
So, be careful, keep it on the effects of the law, specifically the response of athletics and everyone ewill be OK.

If I recall correctly, there's some sort of mandate in the state of New York that no state funds may be used for non-essential travel to the state of North Carolina. Albany was not making a political statement about anything, but were forced cancel the game because as a state school, their travel expenses are state funds

Would put a serious dent in the Syracuse schedule in the ACC.
