Austin Peay destroying our sentimental favorite 21-0. 1st quarter. Peay was up 14-0 and then an onside kick they recovered. Very one sided and Sac State was the presumed favorite with the bye and playing at home and #4 ranking. Can't tell if Peay that good or California D-IAA teams just not that good (they have a 9-3 record).

Sacramento State is a member of the Big Sky which was the second best FCS conference this year so their 9-3 record was legit. They managed to beat BOTH Montana and Montana State this year, though they lucked out drawing both at home. Not to mention they were 9-1 against FCS competition heading into the Peay game with relatively competitive losses to Fresno State and Arizona State. Tough loss for them as they are typically a cellar-dweller in their league -- I can't even remember the last time they were in the playoffs. Austin Peay is living out a dream. Their success is basically the equivalent of Georgetown making the FCS quarterfinals. Their coach is probably headed up the latter -- could see him at Memphis replacing Norvell, newly hired at FSU.

Believe during the game the announcers said that Sac State was last in a playoff 31 years ago when they were D-2.

And Austin Peay has had a historically horrendous record probably winning less than 20% of their games.

And Austin Peay has had a historically horrendous record probably winning less than 20% of their games. They were also non-scholarship until 10-15 years ago. They were in the Pioneer League for football for a while before moving to the OVC, where there other sports have always played.
