At BC's level, Power 5, most jumps from 1AA are to coordinator's positions, not head coach. Unless someone gets hired there who's had some kind of professional relationship with Chesney, would not expect him to end up there.
The BC big wigs would freak out if they hired someone who, the last time they saw him coach, lost 62-14 (could have been even worse) to the guy they fired.

If Chesney leads HC back to regional power status we enjoyed under Duffner and wanted to settle in and stay if HC could be competitive with other offers, could or would HC be competitive?

Based on past practice, that is unlikely. However, perhaps HC could learn from experience.

Good idea. I wonder how many Hail Marys might get it done?

ACC is a southern conference. BC will never be able to recruit ACC caliber players, Not in New England. FBS is controlled by the South, Midwest and once in a while a couple West Coast schools. They are in a tough spot. too bad thy couldn't put together a solid Northeast conference. Seems to me BC annually grabs recruits from NJ, Ohio and Pa in addition to Mass.
Have you studied their current roster ? I haven't.

They do recruit nationally (as do we) obviously....some here seem to enjoy denigrating Massachusetts/NE HS football for whatevah reason. Just quickly looked, BC had about 13 or 14 Mass kids...some may have not been natives as many went the prep route. Just like to add here that probably our best player and PL Offensive PotY is a Masshole like myself .

That group now includes the teams of: Bergen Catholic Don Bosco Paramus Catholic St. Joseph (Montvale) St Peter's (JC) Seton Hall
and (this year) DePaul
Every one of those teams has multiple Power 5 recruits every year. We have been on the radar of some, but this year might cause a few more to take HC seriously.

I think you better add The Peddie School, and the Hun School of Princeton to that list. The 2 best prep schools in Jersey, pump out D1 players like crazy

Call me Rob - it's easier. HC even picked up a coach from BC, Bob Norton. Unfortunately he arrived the year that was cancelled by hepatitis.

Joe Moorhead of Miss St (formerly OC at Penn St and HC at Fordham) being mentioned by some as a candidate for the BC job - folks in Miss. would be happy to see him go as it hasn't worked out well there. This is just a rumor but it wouldn't surprise me if they talk to him

I wonder if the BC board has gone 3 pages on their open coach position?

Well we damn sure know they didn't go three pages when Tom Gilmore was let go and Chesney was hired, just to make the comparison apples to apples! In fact, I can't remember a BC related comment when HC hired Marcus Blossom.

I remember checking the Notre Dame board one time and a poster said something along the lines of "we could do a lot better in sports if only the administration provided some support"..... I used to visit the Fordham board from time to time--most entertaining to read the posters unrealistic expectations about the basketball program

It is a rather interesting dismissal this time, some of the recent football alums have teed off on Addazio. He does seem to be being portrayed as a rather petty person.

The NJ Big 5 or is it 6 is awesome, a recruiting hotbed for the FBS Power 5 and the NFL. A couple of years ago my hs alma mater had the # 1 NY hs football team in the Tri-State and we were # 6 behind the NJ schools. Whoa! Gotta' get more of those Jersey Boys up to the hill. LoveHC Jersey HS sports eats NYC and NY State alive. These programs are also a big reason why you never hear about the big public schools in Rockland County making any major waves sports-wise (outside of track, cross country, country club sports) like Suffern, Clarkstown North & South, North Rockland, Spring Valley, Pearl River, Nanuet, etc. Its because the top athletes in these towns all go to Catholic school in Jersey.
