hc1998 I think we lost the Cal game on the court but IIRC Cal later forfeited the game because of an NCAA violation by its coach (Todd Bozeman?). Does any other poster remember the circumstances? Per sports-reference.com we had one win by forfeit in 1995-1996. If you go to the Teams section and see the page that has California Golden Bears year by year record you see that in 94-95 and 95-96 there are asterisks on the W-L record for those years. Cal went from 13-14 in 94-95 to 0-27, forfeiting 13 wins. The next year Cal went from 17-11 to 2-25, forfeiting 15 wins, including the one versus HC. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/friv/forfeits.cgi

Creighton stole San Diego assistant coachTerrence Rencher, the former Texas star, last week. Pretty poor timing to say the least. Creighton had been short an assistant since March when Preston Murphy went on paid administrative leave due to his role in the FBI bribery scandal. Murphy finally resigned in late November. Prior to his job at Creighton, he had been an assistant at BC and at URI before that.

What's the latest to stream Stadium? Registration required? Monthly fee? No charge, just connect? Always seems to change...

Good place for me to inject this trivia question.
Yes, it's the first meeting evah between these fine institutions in basketbal (coining a Fouracre overused phrase with a HC 87 accent) . And, yes, there was a football matchup or two in the Allen era.
My question is: since the PL was founded, HC has played 4 (or maybe there are one or two more) schools in football (that is, league or non-league; which is a big hint) that HC has NEVER played (evah) in basketball. Can you name the four schools?

Western Carolina, CCSU, Towson, Howard, Monmouth, San Diego. At least some of these are correct.

Can you name the four schools? Guessing St. Mary's (CA) is one. Know the football team had a couple west coast trips during the Dan Allen era. Bryant is definitely one. A little sneaky since they have only been D1 for a handful of years. How about Wagner?

Western Carolina, CCSU, Towson, Howard, Monmouth, San Diego. At least some of these are correct. I recall us losing to Monmouth a couple years ago at the Hart. FCSK had one of his lone OOC wins against CCSU.

I don't think we have ever played Air Force in basketball, but we played them in football in 1978 (I believe) - again before the Patriot League

OK- Wagner, Bryant, Howard, Towson people got. Just like Georgetown, while Towson was in the PL for football, no ooc basketball game was ever scheduled.
And St. Mary's, good one that I missed.
I know Bryant hasn't been in the NEC that long, but if you think about it, HC hasn't played them in basketball and it's (by a slim margin) the closest potential D1 opponent.

Also new to D-I, U Lowell has played HC 10 times (although not since the war). I suppose some difference in crossing the state line, but a little surprising HC never played Bryant even in the olden days

We should play St Marys in basketball! There are many reasons, but one is that the President of the college is an HC Alum, and my classmate! Jim Donahue! www.stmarys-ca.edu/president

Set up a scheduling alliance with two or three games in the Bay Area, St. Mary’s and fellow Jesuit schools, Santa Clara and USF. Would be a series during Thanksgiving break or Christmas after the team is on winter break and finished exams. The following year, a reversal could take place with the teams playing either HC, BC and Fairfield as part of a home and home series. The only barrier during post Christmas will be the start of League play.
i have corrected my original post of the repeats 😊
Nice to see southern sader and efg’72 liking the concept. Hope it occurs before we are Purple Knights.😀
