Also--looks like we are not pursuing the offensive boards as we should

It would help to consistently get our hands up on defense.

15 point run by SD or is it more than that? It only seems that way. All started with two missed free throws.

How many easy hoops are we going to give up before trying something different on D.

Sadly, we are seeing the effects of the long layover in Fl, the trip home, a day of classes followed by a long plane ride to the left coast! The perfect storm! ! Also, had it with the announcer! On a par with Birdsong! Just muted him!!! !

Absolutely no consistency in this game.
Team has no rhythm and flow in offense.

As what is typical with a young team, individual performances game to game are all over the place. Still, JP was a few missed free throws away from another 20 point game.
Need Druzi back. Hopefully Faw not seriously hurt.

We just are not a good basketball team. Simply not enough talent.
I think we will get there under Nelson, but it will take another year or two. Buckle up.

Pridgen's FT motion is ridiculous.....with the consequent results. Did we play zone at all tonite? It may have been 7PM local time but our guys' bodies were at 10PM. Our motion on offense is awful, usually just NBAball. When we do kick out it is always way back out to the perimeter. I can recall ONE instance where our penetrator dished to a teammate who was also moving to the rim. Other teams do that a lot.

We had a 9 point lead early in the game and things were looking pretty good. Problem is we can’t sustain those runs.
Yeah, the announcer acted like SD was playing Duke instead of an inexperienced Crusader team.
Travel fatigue was a main reason Tom Gilmore never wanted to fly to the left coast for games. Not sure how much of a factor it was for our basketball team and how much it was 1. inexperience 2. just not that good players 3. inexperienced coach. Probably all three plus the travel.
As for Lowder missing, would have been a shot in the arm offensively but likely a loss defensively. A wash?

As for Lowder missing, would have been a shot in the arm offensively but likely a loss defensively. A wash? This applies to all comments about missed free throws, lack of offensive flow, shots rimming out, bad calls, etc. Even when the offense isn't good, it's not the main problem.
As a group, this team cannot play adequate man to man defense. Watching Butler, Hargis, et al. chasing after their assignments from behind all night long should have made that clear to anybody. We weren't playing Duke, and it will not get magically better in PL play. Time to make the 2-3 the staple D, with a sprinkling of m2m - it can't possibly be worse.
Let's watch how Nelson recruits the 2021 class - hopefully, he will only be looking at guys with interior size/skills and quick defenders.

/\ Completely agree (we all know our 'big' and 'semi-bigs' are a bit slow-footed relative to our competition).
[Obviously there are exceptions to this generalization.]
Not a bad move to look at more zone given this reality...and give m2m a shot when our 'quicker' set is in or when other situations demand this...but given our talent level (v our competition) we shouldn't have an expectation that playing more zone will necessarily lead to more W's.
