Army needs this after a tough year that started with a lot of promise.

Keep improving to compete evenly with these teams.

Perry (Navy QB) actually looks much bettah here than he did against us imo...
I know option teams improve etc as the season progresses but I don't remember him running as well in our game...seemed like the halfbacks hurt us more.

Yes, Malcolm Perry (Navy QB) ran for 304 yards and did not attempt 1 pass during the game. The only pass Navy attempted and made was by a back who received a handoff from Perry and threw a 1 yard TD pass. Army did not attempt a single pass. Now let this sink in: only pass attempted and completed in the game for a 1 yard TD! This has to be some sort of a record! Final score: Navy 31 Army 7.

Army was 3-6 passing for 25 yards (and one int).
After they drove 78 yards for a touchdown (taking over 10 minutes) in the first quarter, they gained 45 yards on the ground the rest of the game.
No wonder they got blown out. How on earth did they take Michigan to the wire and probably should have won?

I think they lost some important contributors to injury, QB others....not the same team after September or so....

I stand corrected on Army not throwing a single pass... I know I read an article on the net that said exactly that. Have tried to find it but cannot. Maybe the writer realized the mistake and took it down. Oh well....

I guess they have a lot of Marines if they are on land.

Just checked...incredibly, Perry carried the ball 10 times for only 28 yards against us.
Navy did beat us in other ways, but we did keep him in check on the ground.

That's because our defense is better than Army's. Too bad our offense wasn't equally as potent as our defense.

The team photo appears to be the from the summer of '65, no #12; #68 is Jack Connelly, we flew & roomed together in the fleet in '69/70; his dad, Mickey was HC's QB coach in the early '60's.

More likely that Navy didn't call his number for fear of injury. No sane coach would have his QB run 25-30 times a game over the course of a 12 game season. Perry had 29 carries for net 304 yards. Carruthers, the FB, had 22 carries for net 75 yards. Two other backs had 4 carries for net 16 yards. 91 percent of Navy's offensive plays were runs by Perry and Carruthers. Army was unable to stop that.
