Nice to see a Holy Cross basketball team win again.
Manís, as always was great, but AL was outstanding.
Bison, no thanks to Canisius . . . . I used to live in Harrison. . . . Of course she would go to my alma mater!😂

A very satisfying way to spend a cold, rainy afternoon on Cape Cod. Stetson is surely a one woman team.

That may be true but she was outstanding. The Crusaders would have won by 20-25 points if “00” wasn’t in the game.

Nice to see Jenay back, although she struggled on offense, played her usual solid D. Need quality mins from her going forward. Swords played great at both ends in the fourth, was quiet on offense first 3 qtrs, solid defense throughout

How did NJIT get stuck in the Atlantic Sun Conference? I though UConn was left without a chair when the conference realignment music stopped, but NJIT is really a fish out of water. Would like to have their frequent flyer miles though.

A few trips to warmer climes in the middle of winter might be a good recruiting tool. They probably have 3-4 two game trips.

How did NJIT get stuck in the Atlantic Sun Conference? I though UConn was left without a chair when the conference realignment music stopped, but NJIT is really a fish out of water. Would like to have their frequent flyer miles though. NJIT was turned down by several conferences 10 years ago - including the PL - shortly after moving to D1. At that time, they played in a tiny, dilapidated gym and generally had terrible facilities. Apparently none of the northeast conferences were interested. So they joined the makeshift Great West Conference, along with Houston Baptist, Utah Valley, South Dakota, North Dakota, Chicago State, etc - all new D1's. After that conference ceased to exist, because most members had found other homes, they again became an independent. Then the Atlantic Sun needed a new member, due to the loss of Northern Kentucky, and they signed on. Definitely lots of flyer miles, especially since all of their teams play in that conference. Not their basketball program has a new arena - nice although not large. And their soccer and lax programs also have a new field, after playing at Kean University in recent years. With these new facilities and their programs being somewhat established, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get accepted for membership in the NEC at some point. (Or maybe the MAAC if they decide to go to 12 teams or if some programs bail.)

bison, You seem to have quite a talent for knowing the unknowable. Don't recruits ever change their mind when the coach stays the same? Perhaps she would have changed schools in any case if she had at first remained at Canisius, or, with her at Canisius, might HC have gotten an even better player? I have no idea, but it is equally possible to your point IMHO.

Perhaps she would have changed schools in any case if she had at first remained at Canisius, or, with her at Canisius, might HC have gotten an even better player? I have no idea, but it is equally possible to your point IMHO. The is silly. You might also assume that had Milan Brown stayed that Zion Williamson, Luka Doncic, and Jayson Tatum would all have come to Holy Cross and all stayed four years. After all, it's unknowable. But back to the real world: 1. She had signed a LOI with Canisius and was very enthusiastic about it. 2. She frequently stated she loved the head coach and the assistant who recruited her. 3. When she decommitted, she said it was because of the coaches being fired. 4. One quote from her: "I chose Canisius mostly because of the people. I’ve developed a bond with the coaching staff that is amazing and extremely rare. They are like family to me and I can’t imagine playing for anyone else. One of the assistant coaches, Coach Megan Shoniker recruited me since my freshman year and she was the one who got me to buy into her program and made me believe that I was the missing piece to their program. We connect on and off the court and I am extremely thankful for her. Also, Canisius is in the MAAC, which is a perfect conference for me. The majority of our away games are less than an hour from my house, which makes it easy for my family to come see me play and the level of play matches me perfectly"
As for who HC would have landed, it is possible they might have found a player of her level the next year - but unlikely based on the percentages of HC recruits that become ROY's, i.e. two of the previous 45 recruits.

I hope she stays put when the seniors graduate. Avery, Jenay and Ezemma will have their work cut out for them next year. I think it's unlikely she would leave, but one thing that might be concerning for HC fans is that the former Canisius coach (Megan Sloniker), who was the biggest reason she committed and signed with Canisius, was just hired this summer as a Rhode Island assistant. URI's new head coach has somehow implemented a quick turnaround in their program. Still, it seems unlikely Labarbera would want to move from Holy Cross over to URI.

Unlikely, but not impossible if there is a coaching change, which will certainly be determined by the PL season. Right now they could easily be 11-0, and should be 9-2. They are living & dying by the 3, expect some Jekyll & Hyde games in league play, but if they don't at least go 12-6 or 11-7 with a semi-final game I think AM could be in trouble. They are playing well but their lack of depth up front is worrying. Next year could be a dumpster fire as the Frosh are going to have to play whether ready or not. I expect they will add one or two more players in the next signing period, hopefully another big or 2.
