It's always interesting to hear from the other side in such a closely contested game - from the Navy story: "Disappointing loss," said Navy head coach Ed DeChellis. "We didn't defend real well in the first half and didn't rebound. We came out in the second half and defended better, but offensively, in this game you have to make one-foot shots and free throws and we missed several one-foot open shots and then we missed free throws that hurt us and changed the tide of the game. Certainly, it was a winnable game and that's the frustrating part of it." hard to objectively see missed free throws as a/the difference in this game! Except the 2 Navy missed at the end. Most coaches do not throw the player who missed free throws at the end under the bus, as DeChellis has done here.

The guy who missed the shots was 10-13 at the line (and 6-8 in 2018-19) before he went up there and clanged two.
That's 77% and I think I'd be disappointed if a guy with that track record couldn't make one at least.

Of his few attempts, these were probably the only ones under late game pressure. Very different from non pressure situations.

Well, just to be factual, on my way home down Rt. 146 after the game, the Navy bus was apparently heading down to T.F. Green and I could clearly see both in the Hart Parking lot before the bus left and heading down the highway afterwards, there were no midshipmen under the bus. And the bus was within sight for many miles.

Remember saying to my family "worst case scenario is HC will be down 3 points". Instead it was 1.

I don't want to appear to be a milquetoast but.....I'm always a little sad when we beat any of the teams from the military academies. Those boys and girls will be defending us and some of them will die doing it. Not trying to throw a wet blanket. Just being honest.

Important that they learn they will probably not win every battle they are in. We did them a service.
Or are you suggesting that we throw the game so they don’t feel as badly as you?
