There is a NYC rumor that the A10 wants Fordham to leave. Reliable source from a knowledgeable Fordham and NYC media guy, but I do not know how true the rumor is.

Perhaps to a League where they already have a foot in the door?

Fordham has already won the award for long-term stubbornness and an unrealistic mindset. The school could make the move now and have a better future

Welcome aboard Rams. If the PL can make it there it can make it anywhere. Start spreading the news.

If true, scheduling would be a lot easier if a second team was added. Hard to have an odd number of teams
Taking this a step farther, if you take the league to 12 teams, do you have 22 conference games or use the division scenario and play 16 conference games.
I think I'd rather stay with 10 than jump to 12. I suppose the as yet to be named 12th team could influence that opinion

To avoid an uneven number of teams in hoops, who might enter with Fordham should it come to pass? Monmouth and FDU wanted to join but were turned down. Might Fairfield be a possibility?

I think there is some interest among Stag Nation followers in becoming a PL member. Yes, there has been some interest on their side - but none from the PL. If the PL were to add a team, it would almost certainly be one that offers football. I much prefer to stay at ten. Why reduce every team's chance to go to the tournament?

There is a NYC rumor that the A10 wants Fordham to leave. Reliable source from a knowledgeable Fordham and NYC media guy, but I do not know how true the rumor is. While this certainly is possible, I doubt it would happen. There are too many other programs in the A-10 who could someday fall into a similar situation as Fordham, and I doubt those programs want to set a precedent. La Salle, for example, is very weak financially, has a poor facility, and has not been successful on the court. Bona has been successful thanks to a great job by Mark Schmidt. But someday they may fall back into the doldrums and at that point would be less desirable than Fordham as a league member. Duquesne was a problem for a long time, but their new gym along with good coaching by Dambrot has revitalized the program. There are a few other weak programs as well.

Presume you are speaking of hoops. Unless they could recruit better than they do now, questionable under the AI, Fordham may not reduce those chances by much.

If Fordham wants to make football more important than it is now, they could look at the CAA - their best win this season was over CAA school Richmond. The bump to 63 schollies would be easy (but the PL would be in a bad place with only 6 teams) Hofstra would be a local rival for basketball and other sports - and there's no AI in the CAA

Location, location, location. Why would the A10 throw out a school located in New York City without an equivalent replacement?

As someone who follows an A-10 team and the league (for nearly 40 years), I have read nothing about this rumor anywhere else.

The last time Fordham was relevant was when they were playing in the Patriot League. The last time they were in the NCAA's was 1992.
It would make sense for them to come back.
How about we add Bryant University at the same time - evens out the geographical concerns Have a football program
Bryant's reputation is growing - Have a strong Lacrosse program.

This is Fordham's 25th year in the A-10. Here's the team's A-10 record for each of the 5 year periods beginning with the first one 17-63 20-60 26-54 (this will become known as the glory days of Fordham A-10 basketball) 13-69 22-53 (includes current season to date)

I don't think any person would ever argue that Fordham has been an abject failure in the A-10 as far as its showcase sport, men's basketball, is concerned. Its on the court record in the league has been consistently abysmal and it plays in one of the smallest and worst venues in the A-10. Its fan support is minimal and it gets little media attention in the nation's largest market. Even with lack of success in men's basketball, getting booted from a league is still an unlikely prospect given college conference history. Very few programs have ever been kicked out of a league for performance issues. The only recent instance I can think of was Temple football back in 2004. It should however be noted that Temple was not a full member of the Big East Conference then as it was an associate football only member for 13 years (1991-2004).
Keep in mind that Fordham is not all that unlike many other A-10 members. Half the league (7) is comprised of Catholic schools, many of which are fairly small. The other members of the league are three privates and four publics. Getting the necessary votes to actually force Fordham out would be a tall order.

In minor sports, Fordham has done quite well in the A-10. Their softball team is a perennial power and has gone to the NCAA's numerous times including 2019 - their baseball team won the A-10 in '19 and their men's soccer team won the A-10 awhile back - I'm not saying this makes a dent in the concern the A-10 brass must have over their ineptitude on the hardwood

Musings from the Fordham camp that they’d like to bring in Jared Grasso from Bryant as their next head coach. Grasso was an assistant at Fordham under Pecora and is known as a very good recruiter.
Considering he worked under Cluess at Iona for several years, I’m not sure if hchoops would be a fan of his.
