This morning, members of the Holy Cross women's rowing team were involved in a serious crash while traveling in Florida. The College is in contact with authorities in Florida and is in the process of gathering more information. Holy Cross has been in touch with the families of those students and coaches and are offering support for all those involved. We ask that you keep all those involved and their families in your prayers at this time. For those needing to talk to someone, the Office of College Chaplains and the Counseling Center are both open today.goholycross.com/news/2020/1/15/athletics-important-information-regarding-holy-cross-womens-rowing.aspxPrayer For Healing After Car Accident “Oh Lord, please place your healing hands on Our Holy Cross Women's Crew Team
Bring them healing energy. Help them recover physically, mentally emotionally and spiritually.
Send your healing angels and let them fill their bodies and souls with your healing love.
Dear God, please bring them strength to fight for their life.
And fill them with hope, courage and love.
Bring their families the strength they need.
Let their families see them recover in your faith.
Oh Lord, please give wisdom to their doctors and nurses.
So they can help them in recovery.
Please, God, help them to heal fully so they can go home to their loved ones.
Let the angels guide them through their recovery.
So they can enjoy their life next to their family.”

The Telegram article . A pickup truck crashed into a van carrying the Holy Cross women’s rowing team in Vero Beach, Florida, early Wednesday, killing a team member. David Curry, police chief in Vero Beach, confirmed at a news conference that the student-athlete, 20, died in the two-vehicle crash. Twelve others were injured, some seriously, the chief said. The victim was in the front passenger seat of the van, the chief said. In a statement, Holy Cross said, “This morning, members of the Holy Cross women’s rowing team were involved in a serious crash while traveling in Florida. The College is in contact with authorities in Florida and is in the process of gathering more information. Holy Cross has been in touch with the families of those students and coaches and is offering support for all those involved. We ask that you keep all those involved and their families in your prayers at this time.” The van involved in the crash was one of two transporting Holy Cross team members. According to www.tcpalm.com, a Florida news website: The crash occurred on Indian River Boulevard at the base of the Merrill P. Barber Bridge. Vero Beach police Lt. Matt Harrelson said the southbound van was turning east onto the bridge when it was struck by a red Dodge Ram traveling north on Indian River Boulevard. Several women were taken by helicopters to surrounding hospitals, while the drivers of both vehicles were taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. The crash was reported about 7:30 a.m. The team was in Florida for training.

May the deceased HC athlete rest in peace and may her teammates and all families find comfort in dealing with this loss. A television station serving Vero Beach gives the deceased rower's age as 20, but no further details. Several others are seriously injured. From photos, it was a high-speed collision, nearly head-on, at a major intersection at the base of a bridge, that was traffic light controlled.

Several women were taken by helicopters to surrounding hospitals, while the drivers of both vehicles were taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. Worth highlighting. Helicopters suggest to me that there are very serious injuries to others

She attended Our Lady of the Valley School in Uxbridge (Grades 1 -8) where my 4 kids went. Her father is a member of our local Knights of Columbus Mumford Council #365. This one really hits close to home! speechless - hope the support available through the chaplain's office and family/church ties help all in this tragedy heal. Also pray for the emergency health professionals called upon to operate on the injured at this hour. 'espn' has picked up the story on their college sports page
