latest article in the T&G indicates that a theory exists that the HC van turned left into the path of the truck (Grace was seated in the front passenger seat which would seem to support this possibility). A coach was driving the van. Let's all commit to praying hard this afternoon.

One of the team members, Anne Comcovich, from Hopkinton, played AAU hoop with my daughter.
Her mom played hoop for HC, Amy Ross.
Hope she's ok. High school was rough for her with some leg issues (some sort of benign growth which they couldn't get rid of for quite a while) which ended her basketball days. Was happy for her that she found another sport.

It's more crushing reading through this thread, but we need to be strong for all involved. Knowing a coach may have been driving makes it more heartbreaking.
I learned a long time ago, during my motorcycle safety training, that taking that left hand turn in an intersection is the cause of the majority of automobile accidents. Awareness to all.

Prayer For Healing After Car Accident
“Oh Lord, please place your healing hands on Our Holy Cross Women's Crew Team
Bring them healing energy. Help them recover physically, mentally emotionally and spiritually.
Send your healing angels and let them fill their bodies and souls with your healing love.
Dear God, please bring them strength to fight for their life.
And fill them with hope, courage and love.
Bring their families the strength they need.
Let their families see them recover in your faith.
Oh Lord, please give wisdom to their doctors and nurses.
So they can help them in recovery.
Please, God, help them to heal fully so they can go home to their loved ones.
Let the angels guide them through their recovery.
So they can enjoy their life next to their family.”

The Dean of Students is having a difficult time with the press conference. I think we are all saddened and I am praying for all of those in the hospital currently. Grace was a student at Marianapolis Prep where she was an advisee of one of my good friends from HC. Exceptionally sad for the entire HC family.

Fr. B., ADMB, and a member of the college chaplains are on their way to Florida. The brief television news conference indicated that the head coach of rowing was driving the van.

Hearing that Chris Rett, his wife and daughter (younger than Grace) were boarding a private jet provided by Holy Cross about an hour ago. More than likely they are on the same plane with Fr. Burroughs and others. Pray for all involved in this tragic accident.

This is so sad. I just watched the profile of her quest to break the continuous hour rowing record on local tv (WCVB-5 Boston) the other day.

I've heard the same thing through social media- have to agree that saying nothing is the best policy until stuff is officially made public.

One of my classmates lives in Vero Beach and emailed me offering a room in his home to any team family members and/or to pick anyone up at the airport. I have passed along his offer to Fr. B and Marcus Blossom. This is the Crusader spirit.
I know 45 and, I think 81, have friends impacted by this tragedy. Let them know of this offer and I will connect any interested parties.

I was just down over the week-end at Vero Beach. I know exactly where the spot of the accident occurred. I must have traveled over that bridge 5 times coming from the south (direction of the pick-up). The traffic lights down there can be confusing. They are the horizontal type. So when the van approached the area to turn onto the bridge there are two green lights, one for going straight and one on the left to take a turn, but no green arrow like we have in Mass. I can see why the van took the turn, probably thinking it has the "right of way". So sad......I know Coach Diggins quite well and my prayers are with him and all the members of the Crew Team. If he was in fact the driver, I know he would not have tried to cut in front of the pick-up.
