If comparing him to Malachi Rhoades is not denigrating him then I don't know what is. That's just silly. Rhodes had a much better list of offers, which are about all we can use to judge at this point. No way to tell for three years, but I definitely would rather have Rhodes, who I expect to have a good year in 2020-21.

Bison on the Bucknell board denigrating Louth and most of our other recruits. Notes Louth's offers and no mention of offer by St Bonaventure and noted a report of interest by SIU. Says he has a chance to be a decent PL player and compared him to someone named Malachi Rhodes who played 5 mpg and averaged 1 point and 1 rebound for Bucknell this year. This guy is a pompous ass and I don't know why this board indulges him. This is absurd. I didn't denigrate Louth, just gave an honest opinion (not on this board) that he might be a solid PL player. Are you saying I shouldn't be allowed to be objective on the Bucknell board? If so, what boards are given your OK for people to give their honest opinion? And I said NOTHING derogatory about ANY HC recruit. As for Bona, I spent a good amount of time on their board and couldn't find any solid evidence of an offer. Btw, if you don't even know who Rhodes is, then it's obvious you don't follow basketball other than Holy Cross. I do. Some on the board "indulge" me because I have been giving objective opinions here since 2003 and also because I ran the PL pick'em pool for years for both the HC and Bucknell boards. Since it was run using point spreads, it took hundreds of hours.

I think Rhodes has yet to develop, and that he has a good upside. I am not sure I could say which will make a bigger splash in the next few years.

Yeah Bison if you don't know who Rhodes is you certainly don't know college basketball how can anyone not be impressed by the numbers he put up last year. Then again he was playing behind the immortal Paul Neumann, tough to get on the floor with a guy like that in front of you.

bison137-- I, for one, value your contributions to our board. That puts you in a distinct minority at this point. I think most posters felt that way 10 years ago but his “smartest guy in the room” and “disappear whenever Bucknell loses or someone points out he was wrong about something” act has definitely worn thin with many. Most are just too nice to say it outside of private conversations.

I always admit that I am not basketball expert, but I was impressed with his ability to put the ball on the floor. A big man who likes to be near the basket, can handle and pass the ball, has a nose for that ball, can use both hands: lots to like! Now we have to work on the free throw shooting.....

This link appears to be write-ups from November with previous rankings (Louth at #9, followed by a table with the latest rankings (Louth at #14). northpolehoops.com/2019/11/03/canadian-2020-top-25-national-player-rankings-by-north-pole-hoops/10 of the 13 players ranked ahead of Louth are high-major players, 1 is going to Harvard, 1 to Northeastern, and 1 uncommitted. Louth is ranked ahead of players committed to Northeastern, Vermont, Cal, and Brown. Pretty good company! Write-up from 11/9/19:

His post-jam stare-downs won't make him popular with opponents, but honestly, I like the idea of having some in-your-face attitude on this team - less putzing around on the perimeter, more punishment in the paint.

The best stare downs (and much more) were by Mike Vicens. He was not liked by opponents either.

I like the potential with Louth and am excited to have him. However, as with any freshman, especially a big, I think we need to ratchet back our expectations for a dramatic impact In his first year. Same for Rabinovich.

We should also temper expectations because the Bucknell board told us so.

We could sweep the PL all-rookie team.

With Butler and Pridgen probably getting big minutes at the wings , the freshmen wings will most likely get fewer minutes than the bigs and the point

Here's another tidbit on Mike. He, along with classmates Chris Potter and Bob Landes, may be the only Crusaders to play on four 20-win teams.
