We have set a record in the last three years for blown leads. The pattern is clear, no? So,our first 22 can compete with anyone we play. We are thin. Assume our fitness is excellent. This is college football. Players wear down. They get tired. We have very bad second halves and teams literally shove it down our throats. The pattern in inescapable.
So, during the course of a game rotate the second guy on the two deep throughout the contest; a right tackle and left end for a series , then a left tackle and outside linebacker for the next; etc., etc.
COME ON, YA GOTTA DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

"a right tackle and left end for a series , then a left tackle and outside linebacker for the next; etc., etc."
That's not how college football works.
On defense you could probably get away with that -- but just flopping tackles and players along the offensive line is usually disastrous.

a couple of thoughts: = we do recruit a few 19 yr olds from prep schools so they come in a year older = with 90 kids splitting up the 60 schollies, there are more 'misses' than the coaches would like to admit = it has always amazed me (also in basketball) how wide the gap can be between the starters and subs.
if we don't have 8-10 serviceable defensive linemen this season, our ground defense will suffer and so will our record

Perhaps our coaches have good game plans and suck at adjustments. Entirely possible.
Or it's just talent rising to the top.
