In today’s 76-70 win at the Beach Ball Classic, North Carolina, Caleb had 18 in 6-10 FG, 6-7 FT, 10 rebs, 3 blocks, 1 steal. in yesterday’s loss to Word of God, a national power, he had 13 pts, 5-10, 2-4 FT, 9 rebs, 1 block, 2 steals. He was the leading rebounder in both games.

I love hearing the rebounding numbers and I also recall a plethora of blocked shots on his highlight reel-hopefully to be repeated in college

Caleb was listed at 6-5 when we signed him in November. If he can add an inch every two months we'll be in great shape in the front court.... . "he has scouts and reporters raving over the steal that Holy Cross got in him"

I wish they would stop "raving" until he is wearing a Holy Cross uniform.

I wish they would stop "raving" until he is wearing a Holy Cross uniform. Amen to that sentiment. And who is "they" by the way. I wish people in general, not just on this board, would stop treating most recruits, particularly in hoops, as the next MJ.

I wish people in general, not just on this board, would stop treating most recruits, particularly in hoops, as the next MJ. I don’t think anyone on this board has treated Lewis as the next MJ. People who know him are going to put things on social media that are very positive. Those messages may get re-posted here but I don’t think anyone here has gone too overboard on Kenny or anyone else. It’s the nature of the beast to get excited about incoming recruits. Sometimes they pan out, sometimes they don’t. Early reviews of the new guys this year are pretty positive with some more positive than others. Let’s hope we can keep it up with future recruiting classes.

It i very difficult to find HS players who end up being great mid major college players. The players at the top of their class are easy to see, they have maturity to their game that the others haven't yet gained..I saw Creighton point guard Max Zegorowski play as a HS Freshman and his play was just outstanding..He is now a junior at Creighton and is the pre-season Player of the Year..As a HS freshman his game was head and shoulders above the others on the court, easy to see...I saw Martindale and Rabinovich last season at WA..Both were very good, but neither had the maturity in their game that I saw in Zegorowski..I still think both WA kids are going to be very positive players at HC, however, it will take some time for them to "fit in" to the college game...

I agree about Rabinovich, but I could see Martindale reaching that level this year.

Max Z. is at Franklin Pierce, Marcus Z. is at Creighton. Their half-brother? stepbrother? is Michael Carter Williams, who played for Syracuse, and is now in his eighth NBA season.

Sometimes high school players, even very good ones, get overwhelmed in D1 Basketball. I'm sure Martindale will have his ups and downs but the way he played in game 2 against BU shows that he's not overwhelmed. With Rabinovich it's hard to say. He looks a bit slow and anxious but it's way too early to judge. Sometimes the time period for big players is longer. I think of Meghan Swords. She was very ungainly in her first year or two at HC. Due to coaching and I assume, some very hard work, she became a very effective player. I have tons of respect for her and players like her.

Nicer for Nelson and Rabinovich (although he probably wouldn't admit to it) that it's not 2019-20 and he doesn't have to play that much until he's ready. Last year he'd have been thrown to the wolves.

...and IMHO he will be ready - sooner rather than later.
