Speaking of detesting someone, just back from NYC and on the way north up I-95 there was billboard that had a big picture of Ricky Pitino and said something to the effect "Iona College welcomes Coach Rick Pitino." So, my "big 3" college basketball coaches are, in no particular order:
* Calipari * Pitino * Calhoun
For the record, as a practicing Catholic (I'll get it right one of these days!), I do not despise anyone but do allow myself a visceral strong dislike.

For those with the Big Ten Network and an interest in seeing former Crusaders in action, check out Illinois at 2pm on Wednesday 11/25 and Eastern Michigan (vs. Michigan State) at 6pm. I believe that the 2 pm game on the BTN is with Illinois State, not Illinois Lowder will be helped on defense by the 2-3 zone that EM plays with a former Boeheim assistant as the head coach.

The 2pm game on the big ten network is NC A&T at Illinois with grandison ( such a deep team I wonder where he fits )

The ESPN website has the Illinois State game on ESPN and the Illinois game on BTN The Athletic is probably wrong

Pridgen just recvd his waiver to play and made his debut today for UNCW in 10 pt loss to East Carolina - started and played 41 minutes scoring 11 points - their coach must like him

I don't like to obsess about how former HC players are doing but I do like to check occasionally out of curiosity. Through six games Joe P. is averaging 33 minutes a game and 10.7 ppg, which is fifth highest on the team. He's clearly an important part of their rotation, which is not a surprise. Joe's got some game (as we saw).

I think he is as much a defensive talent [or could be] as he is offensive scorer

Not based in his lack of defense last year

Looks like Joe might still be playing a little out of control as he did at times here, averaging 3.5 turnovers per game same as last year.

As far as stats go, the 50th best team in the nation (in terms of turnovers per game) currently averages 11.6 turnovers per game.
That's as a team. He has only played in 3 games so that stat is misleading a little, but poor nonetheless.
That said - he's averaging 7.3 rebounds per game. Legit stat for his size and also the team leader.

KenPom has calculated an o-rating of 80.3, sub-optimal to be sure, for the two games Joe has played against D-1 teams. Of course that's just the smallest sample size and will likely improve as more games are factored in. Joe is 0-3 on threes, just 3-8 from the line: again, small sample size to be sure.

Joe's value is within five feet of the basket, a power game. Tough rebounds and tough baskets. Yes, there are a few holes in his game. I'm hoping some of our new guys will do similar damage down low. It's hard to win consistently with just jump shooters.

Always interesting to see how players "that we used to love" are doing. Especially when it's the only show in town right now.

It's hard to win consistently with just jump shooters. He has really big hands which greatly helps his game near the basket but probably hinders his shooting ability. Think Wilt trying to shoot free throws. Joe's hands aren't as big as Wilt's but they don't make a lot of gloves that fit JP's hands.

As UNCW keeps referring to him as a "guard", I think his pro equivalent would be Marcus Smart. He'll have his moments shooting the ball but, overall, it's not the reason he's valuable.
