^^^^ Paramount suggestions. On the sidewalk between the Yawkey MBTA station and Fenway Park, the Red Sox have erected large numerals commemorating Red Sox greats.

Xavier University has a vending machine on campus that produces a custom designed piece of pizza in three minutes. Such machines have been in Europe for many years. THIS is how we can get the edge against competitors for recruits. Nate Pine, PLEASE put one of these in Luth. I beg of you. Recruits will see it nowhere else. They will take one look at it and "Done! I'm a Crusader!"

Upper level classes for the athletes help them make the right selections

They will be even more impressed when the machine converses with them in Italian, and serenades them with O Sole Mio as the pizza is being baked. www.snopes.com/pizza-vending-machine/------------------------------------------------------ With respect to the Luth itself, they appear to have suspended erecting the steel frame of the NFH, and are concentrating on the the new locker rooms and the AD office suite next to the east wall of the Hart court. Whether they will next turn their attention to the practice court, or resume erecting the NFH steel should be known in the next week or so.

It's quite a sight when the rotating disk of pizza dough flies up out of the top of the machine.

putting campus vending machines aside, i stopped by campus last evening enroute from NH. the complex is really huge and it's going to be great. i can imagine, though, that logistics around the complex and the old hart structure will be a major challenge, with hundreds of fall athletes descending on campus this week. the number of trailers around the site is amazing.
adnp and his capable staff will be busy keeping our 27 varsity teams coordinated with practices and competitions.

Purplehaze, as best as I can decipher the puts and takes, by Sept 1 or so, two new locker rooms, for women's ice hockey home and visitors, will be available..
By Oct 1, I would think the two visitors locker rooms under the north mezzanine of the Hart should be available, and can be used as home and visitor locker rooms until the new M/W basketball locker rooms are ready.
The space for the M/W basketball locker rooms is steel-framed, but I suspect those won't be ready until sometime next year.
Of the existing locker rooms for the field sports / swimming / men's ice hockey its possible two of the field sports locker rooms have been 'lost' to the construction of sports medicine. Otherwise, I don't think the existing field sports locker rooms will be touched until the new locker rooms are open at the north end of the NFH. Men's ice hockey and swimming stay pretty much as is.

Probably from about a week ago. The Hart subfloor. The renovated men's ice hockey locker room. Drone view. The practice court will go where the two red trucks are. Basketball coaches suites are to immediate right. For enlarged view, click on image and open in new tab.

Looking at the webcam this morning, it appears they are bringing in a second (larger?) crane for the NFH. It may be that they will assemble the clear-span roof truss sections as a single piece on the ground, and then lift the single piece attaching it to steel columns along the 'sidelines'.. These trusses span across the width of the field, from sideline to sideline.
On the practice court, it appears that concrete for most of the foundation has been poured. However, there is a large construction trailer positioned where the east end of the new court will be, so I think further work on the practice court won't happen until the trailer is moved. The trailer may be associated with putting down the floor for the Hart court.

I thought the trailer might be offices for coaches.

I thought the trailer might be offices for coaches. If you go to the Google satellite view, I think the coaches' trailers are at the SW corner of the Hart, near the field hockey field and track. The satellite view looks to be late March, early April.

Basketball and hockey do not look significantly different IMO.

For those who want to take a peek at the webcam, they are lifting the clear-span truss today. This one will be over/near the north goal-line. There are three cranes and I expect there will be man lifts (work platforms at the end of a boom) used as well.

From my set of drawings, there are 11 of these clear-span trusses, and it took two days to assemble the pieces on the ground, and one day to lift the truss and bolt it down.
From my unofficial perspective, the amount of wind will be a factor in whether they lift on a particular day. Would not surprise me that they would lift on a Saturday, or even the Sabbath, if the winds were right.
They also seem to have resumed work on the footings and foundation for the practice court; this is for the section at the east end of the future court..

Isn't there usually a Christmas tree as well?

In some cases, I've seen that. With a couple of months until the Christmas tree lots open up, maybe they didn't want to run the risk of cutting down a rare Korean Fir on campus as a couple of students did for the Mulledy Christmas party back in 1982!

I heard that security is still looking for those tree cutting miscreants........

Actually, they found them pretty quickly. The tree cut down was located near Loyola and a Jesuit or one of the employees in Loyola saw the culprits cutting it down and wrote down the license plate of the car they used to transport it. Turns out the car belonged to one of the Head RAs in Mulledy who had loaned his car to 3 guys on the Mulledy House Council who were charged with getting a tree for the party. I think the tree they selected was worth a couple thousand dollars. D'oh!

Christmas tree foraging stories... in '73 we needed one for the NROTC unit... we tasked one of the chief petty officers on the staff to get one... later found out he had alcohol problems and that the tree was from the median strip on the MassPike

The flag is functioning as a wind sock. The two truss sections, until they're bolted in, could sway and twist if the zephyrs were anything but gentle.
In a topping out, the last (high) beam is painted white, and hoisted with a flag and almost always a Christmas tree. There is a party. (The topping out beam was already signed, even by a Crossports poster or two (IIRC).
There are 11 or 12 more sets of trusses to go, all of which will be of identical height to the beam with the flag.
