I know it is soft comfort but I hereby offer the services of a bright young creative offensive "genius" named AB in exchange for your tired and bedraggled elderly and confused CTG. Any takers?

...Be willing to think about, if your other genius, your AD, would actually consider reviving that nice basketball rivalry we had way back when

Unrealism, 9-2 is not possible, 2-9 is. IMHO 9-2 is not realistic, but it is still possible. 2-9 is possible but not realistic. Since we have 3 losses, 9-2 is not possible

Bump....
IMHO the two best football coaches in the last years were Rick Carter and Mark Duffner.
Oh, the enthusiasm we had then when these two were coaching!!!
Again, if IMHO both came in and turned around failing programs. So, we know it can be done!
We need a house cleaning and bring in a Carter or Duffner type who can walk the walk and talk the talk to make things happen!
We deserve better than we are getting now!
And, for those who bash ADNP for extending CTG, hopefully he was smart enough to have a low buyout for the final year of the contract. If not, shame on him!

Just don't see how retaining this leadership is in any way, shape or form possible.

The funny thing is, Gilmore came in and quickly turned around a program that was one of the very worst in 1AA football. He brought that energy and leadership you speak of when mentioning Carter and Duffner. From the very beginning up until 2011, HC was one of the top programs in the PL.
Then, the wheels fell off.

Just don't see how retaining this leadership is in any way, shape or form possible. A disastah of the highest order. Gilmore is 21-43 from 2012 to this very moment....how anyone could look at this objectively and say "OK...let's stay the course another year" is beyond me, but this is Holy Cross after all. Lee Hull is probably our best bet as next head coach to stay within the confines of this thread.

No offense to Cramsey, but much like Bo at Michigan, I want an HC guy to coach HC....there are viable options.

No offense to Cramsey, but much like Bo at Michigan, I want an HC guy to coach HC....there are viable options. There may be. But, that also seems really, really foolish. Why drastically limit the pool to just an HC guy? You'd be throwing away many other great candidates.

Younger guy....played and coached at UNH, now at Sam Houston St....I honestly know very little about him but I just think (my opinion/belief) we have to reconnect to the HC when we last had scholarships: Hull, McGovern, Malone etc

Don't disagree in theory...but my belief is that we would be bettah served to have a head coach that has a connection to when HC football still mattered...can sell the school/program bettah, can honestly tell recruits what HC is all about etc....

How about a former team captain on Rick Carter's team, coach under Duffner, offensive coordinator of a national champion team, coach on a Super Bowl team and a stellar person who still bleeds purple?

We need someone with FCS/FBS head coaching experience. This job description is too tough for a neophyte. Does Hull have the head coaching background we need? Could Duffner be lured back to HC for a final, glorious swan song? Where is Mike Sherman these days, gunkholing in a Whaler down the Cape? Hope we’re making some phone calls. Whatever Nate did to get Carmody needs to happen again, same deal here. Between the nonsense with admissions, etc., and on and on, the HC coaching job has far too many challenging subtleties outside of recruiting and X’s and O’s for someone still figuring out their own playbooks. We’ve learned this over the past 25 years. We have some good assistants but like during the end of the Vaas era, everyone must go except Jeff Oliver. We take our lumps for a couple years and build back from ground zero. But first there has to be commitment from the top down, otherwise it will be more of the same. When Dan A showed up, the excitement was palpable, a second life for the players. First few years were rough but playing for that man was a joy, always positive, win lose or draw. Dan was a fair, evenhanded leader who was struck down in his prime. If he were still alive and well he’d still be the coach, with a bunch of PL titles in the books by now.

Beyond the success he's had on the field, he's an absolute dynamo on selling the school and kids and a relentless & tireless recruiter. He'll absolutely kill it in interviews as well.

I'm good with Chesney. If that doesn't work, Greenwich native Glenn Caruso has compiled a ridiculous 104-16 record at D-III University of St. Thomas (MN) over the last decade. Of course, he'd have to get used to smaller crowds given that they recently played in from of 37,355 at Target Field. Prior to his arrival, UST had won one conference title since 1983 (in 1990). They've now won 5 since 2010 and are well on their way to another this season.
