ACTP, none of my comments were meant as personally as you apparently took them. The complaints about the broadcasts were largely centered around Bob F, who increasingly missed a lot of details in his later years.
I think I disagree with you that there's as much of a generational gap in newer technology platforms as you think there is. Plenty of senior citizens on this board have managed to get Stadium or PL-All Access feeds going on their devices. Again, if we're talking about the population who a) is within the radius of a Worcester radio station's signal, b) won't pay $6/mo for ESPN+, c) can't figure out how to stream a feed... I'm suggesting that's a vanishingly small population. And if HC was subsidizing these broadcasts by purchasing the airtime and maybe/maybe not actually breaking even by selling the advertising, well, given the Athletic Dept's budget crunch, I don't have any problem at all with them deciding that this isn't a good use of their available funds.

Terrestrial radio--listening while driving is a key feature.

As I noted Ray, I no longer have any stake in it, so I certainly don't take is personally. Bob hasn't called a FB or MBB game in years. Dick has been the voice of HC for the last 5 years, so there is no "recent" complaints about the broadcasts. And the "vanishingly small" population you refer to makes up a substantial portion of HC's die-hard, local fan base, and I think you know this. Also I totally get and understand HC not willing to pay for the airtime this year with to $ coming in to offset the outlay, but I completely disagree with you on terrestrial radio having no value to HC or to any D1 school for that mater under normal circumstances.

Speaking for myself only, I was more likely to listen to the radio than stream. Great for football while raking leaves. Cleaning kitchen after dinner for those Wed 7:00 PM starts. Stuff like that. Normally involved with some sort of multi tasking around the house

FWIW, one of my high school pals started as a DJ, worked up the ranks, and now is GM / part owner of several radio stations on Long Island. Two years ago, he told me that radio as we know it, will be dead within ten years. I guess this is a part of the progression.

Music radio is already on life support. News and live local sports -think 'BZ, 'TIC AM, WEEI, Sports Hub, 'FAN will hold on longer.

One more thought about the radio.
I am by nature kind of cheap. I pay way more for normal cable than I think it's worth. That being said, I forked over the approx $15 for ESPN + to catch 15 HC basketball games.
I do not have (or plan to get) an extra sports package on my Spectrum cable for CBS Sports for one game. I will read on online postgame story and a box score, but other than that will be quite clueless concerning the happenings on 1/31. I have in the past managed to find a sports bar as needed, but that won't be happening in the land of COVID. I will probably need to break some COVID protocols to catch the 7th meeting of HC and BU on 3/14. Some radio coverage would help this issue

Radio coverage also gives you a home announcer, which can increase the enjoyment of following a team.
