Is it fair to question what's going on with this program under Nelson?

Ryan saw the numbers crunch at the wings- sophs and freshmen Surprised he waited this long. Cannot be too many desirable openings.

This is the first this year, right? If so, in this era, I have a hard timing faulting a head coach for one transfer. It seems like a cost of doing business now.
EDIT: Obviously not the first, but the first non-graduating transfer?

I also wondered why this did not happen sooner. Ryan has talent but could possibly see less playing time next season. I wish him well with thanks for the past season. He played a solid role in the transition. Not really "fair" or "unfair" to question what's going on. The talent level is growing higher and the choice to not try to rise to that level is available. I wish he had stayed, but I believe he will find a spot to land and this team will continue to develop and we will move on.
This may explain why we have been recruiting additional guards.

Is he the last of Carmody's legendary Princeton offense?

Can’t say I expected to see this on June 9. Hope he finds happiness wherever he winds up.

Just projecting, but I thought of Ryan and Joe Reilly as glue guys. There's no reason to think there is any lack of "glue" in the remaining roster and the original Nelson coaching group is intact.
I wonder if Ryan could end up at a prestigious high academic D-3 school? BB could be his entre. Those schools, like the Ivies meet a high percentage of financial need without athletic scholarships.

FWIW, here are Wade’s career stats. Not overwhelming but a solid player who I hoped would start to put up better offensive numbers over the next couple of years. He was a very solid defender, which I always appreciated.
29.3 mpg 5.8 ppg 2.1 rpg 1.5 apg 1.2 turnovers pg 32.3 FG% 30.1 3-pt FG% 80.5% FT

Wade played hard and was a good defender but very limited on the offensive end. You've got to get a lot more out of someone playing 30 minutes a game.

Considering his lineage, wasn't Ryan the kid we were told had a "high basketball IQ?" He'll be missed. Should make us appreciate even more that Matt and Austin stuck it out.

It’s not so much Wade transferring that bothers me, it’s the timing of it.
Why would he enter the portal in June? The season ended in March and he knew what the team would look like next year.
Now we are down a scholarship player for next season. I didn’t think Wade was anything more than an average PL player, but he showed himself to be serviceable in this league as a bench guy.
Nelson’s player and roster management is interesting to say the very least.
He better start winning both for his sake and Marcus Blossom’s.

But isn’t this the world we live in with college hoops these days? I feel like all the old rules are out the window.

If you are not the star, move on. His brother did the same thing...Ryan was a hard working kid I think, but didn't perform well enough to be a star..He came in as a 3 point shooter for the Princeton O...Now he doesn't fit that well.... I hope he finds a place to play, he always gave 100%... Best of luck to him.

Dorsey transferred in mid April, Wade probably saw the handwriting on the wall and started thinking about transferring. Hopefully he's already got some feelers out as its kind of late in the process to find a new home for the coming season.

In terms of Wade, was the Oron addition the straw that broke the camel's back?
And does Mr. Oron have a scholarship?
(those two questions might be mutually exclusive)

Doubtful that Oron has a schollie or that his coming had anything to do with Wade’s leaving.

Coach Nelson has been allowed to shop for the groceries. With apologies to Bill Parcells, now it's time to cook the meal.

Of Carmody’s recruits, how many have finished their career at HC and stayed for four years? Among the schollies, only Zignorski, Le Sann, Butler, and Faw played four years and graduated. Copeland stayed at HC, but left the team
Departed Holy Cross: Cohen, expelled Charles, suspended and left Stevens, suspended and left Green Grandison Niego Hargis Verbeek Sandy Lowder Pridgen Wade
Good. Lord.

Because Kyrell Luc showed up on campus last week and Wade saw more minutes disappear? Are we really blaming Nelson for upgrading the talent level to a place where Carmody guys are leaving because they have been leaped by his guys?

I have no idea why Ryan Wade is leaving but if someone forced me to come up with a guess, BBC’s is what I would have put forth. It would explain the timing. Dorsey would probably factor in as well if he arrived on campus last week.

From afar, Wade seems like a great kid, and his effort was exemplary, but I don't get this move. His stats won't jump out to any other school. It's too bad he couldn't look at the great education he was getting and accept the fact that he was going to have to compete hard for playing time. Isn't that what D1 sports is all about?
