Am told that the Hogan Parking Lot webcam had a hardware failure probably due to a lightning strike. A new camera has been ordered!

Looks like they switched the direction of the PPAC webcam so that it now is live showing the Hogan Parking Lot. They have also added a link to the Jo webcam, but that says "Currently Offline" as does the link to the Hogan Parking Lot.... Well some progress and some added confusion.... !!!

Gee, are the Jesuits forced to park on CityView during this parking lot construction? The Jesuits park south of where City View enters the campus. Its on that portion of the Hart lot that's next to the red house that is one of two lots on City View not owned by the college. Older couple own it.

Looking at the view from this re-positioned webcam, the spaces on the north side of the Luth lot are blocked off. This is the lot constructed in conjunction with Luth. The construction workers would usually park there. They are now either parking up on the Hart lot next to the rink -- or those are cars of students who are up at the Luth and the upper campus playing fields -- and the workers' cars are not in camera view.
They reconfigured the intersection of the road from the main entrance of the Hart and McCarthy Lane extended. They may be doing related work on McCarthy Lane beyond the view of the camera.
There will be a one-way drive southbound from the Upper Campus Rd. to City View, with a few parking spaces. Remember, Ciampi, is to become a residence hall for students.
To the east of the one way drive, there is a guard rail so that cars navigating the Hogan parking lot don't jump the curb and then down a slope to the one-way drive.
Almost certainly, given the timetable, they will be working Saturday, and overtime during the week.

Forgot Ciampi is to become a dorm. When? And where is the shrinking Jesuit Community going to be living? Back in the dorms with the students? Oh, and I can't resist . . . . which students get to park in the Ciampi garage? Lottery?

Oh, and I can't resist . . . . which students get to park in the Ciampi garage? Lottery? First, they have to build the new residence. The number of Jesuits in the HC Jesuit community is down to 12 apparently. In 20 years, there may be more statues of Jesuits on campus then living Jesuits. And I don't say that 'tongue in cheek'. 17 Jesuits ordained in North America this past year. Jesuit deaths in North America are averaging over 100 a year.

In looking at the webcam, I can't imagine this project will be completed 2 weeks from Saturday - that's when frosh arrive and Mass of the Holy Spirit occurs - even with OT, not enough hours in a 7 day work week from my inexperienced perspective - does PP think it can be completed in time ?

I think the lot can be fully paved and striped by then, and a temporary sidewalk created along the east side of the lot, from McCarthy Lane to Hogan. I don't expect plantings of shrubs and stuff until after August. The low brick wall that is being built is mainly to hold the dirt in place with the landscape mounds. The elevation of the new yellow hydrant gives you an idea of how much dirt will be dumped. On the west side of the lot, if the light is good, you can see two curbed islands. The big conversation at the Planning Board's review was whether two additional islands that are nearer to Hogan should be curbed, or just painted. The college asserted that if there were curbed islands, that would hinder plowing and snow removal. It appears the college prevailed and these two will be striped. The cars in the lot near the Hart rink are student cars apparently.

Paving the top course of asphalt on the 'new drive' that runs south from Upper Campus Drive to City View. There are several trucks of asphalt lined up, so can't tell whether the loop around the Hogan island will be paved as well. I assume Upper Campus Drive has remained open to the Hogan loading docks, so they are gradually increasing the traffic circulation to and around this re-constructed lot.

They are already 1/4- 1/3 done on the west side. Not sure what else they'll be doing but no question they'll be done this area today, probably before lunch time.

They have already striped the 'Jesuit' spaces by Ciampi. They will stripe the base layer of asphalt on the drive by the front entrance of the PPAC. They will finish paving the lot itself today. They may also pave the short stretch of road that connects McCarthy Lane and City View. There may be other paving on the east side of the PCPA.
At least one team bus up by the Hart. Must be a scrimmage.

I changed my mind. I donβt want to be the Hart Zamboni driver anymore. I want to drive the steam roller - even the smaller one - doing the parking lots. π

Yes. I was mistaken in thinking the orange lines on the drive that passes by the front entrance to the PCPA were for striping. These lines were to guide the paver. They did paint directional arrows in the new lot. And though it is hard to see, it seems they've created a traffic island and crosswalk at the very end of City View. And maybe several waymarking signs too. I will leave it for HCFC45 to confirm. :

You know, I just posted within the last week or so that I lost all my juice. But just found out from my sister that I might "know a gal" (or know someone who knows someone). It seems my HC alumna niece (my wife is her godmother and I am her honorary godfather as I stood in for the godfather who couldn't make it) is close friends with Meredith Crowley (apparently the people who own Polar Beverages - I don't pay attention to these things). I no doubt met the girl when I often visited my niece when she was on campus and met so many of her friends and maybe she was even at my niece's wedding. Anywho, my niece and her 4 kids (!!! what the heck, she's Irish) went up to Worcester for a mini-reunion of 5 alumna, spouses and 9 kids and they all stayed at the Crowley's large (evidently) house (mansion?). Maybe I can get even better VIP seats at the Polar Park football game?
