Yep, and not doing it is biting HC in the ass now.
Hockey is by far the best student-supported sport on campus too.

.......nor expanded our own HOLY CROSS on campus rink to a three sided 4,500 facility. Please tell me where the $40 million was going to come from. $40 million is low. PSU went from a rink with a capacity of 1,300 to Pegula, which seats 5,800. Pegula has two rinks, but one has no seating to speak of. Pegula cost $88 million. A single donor gave PSU over $100 million for ice hockey. news.psu.edu/story/149402/2012/04/25/pegulas-increase-penn-state-hockey-commitment-102-million

I witnessed the turnaround in student support from 2007-2011. We had a great and raucous student section by senior year. Basketball dipped a bit in support and hockey came up. Even had decent albeit drunk crowds at my club games.

Definite buzz in the air in and around the DCU saturday night. Really wish we had made it a more exciting game.
Long line to buy tickets pregame. took about 30 minutes. I spoke to someone affiliated with the DCU and they were not expecting such a large (walk up) crowd. This was on a saturday in the middle of football season. Hockey East will work for HC at the DCU.
hoping the hoops game at UMass has a similar buzz, just wish it was also a saturday night.

FYI -- From T&G:
Despite the score, York was impressed with the play of Holy Cross, a program largely coming into its own. He thinks recruits should be enamored with Holy Cross's combination of great academics, a lovely campus, and David Berard, a coach you want to play for. With Notre Dame leaving Hockey East after this season, York sees the Crusaders as the program to give the conference 12 teams again.

Here's what Pine had to say on the topic: “At the end of the day, the size of our rink for the demand that we have for women’s hockey and playing the men’s Atlantic Hockey schedule that we have works quite nicely,” Pine said. “It became cost-prohibitive when you really explored knocking down walls and expanding rink capacity and seating to where it would have eaten up maybe even the lion’s share of the project costs. And with the DCU Center two miles from campus, we felt that would be a lot better strategic option should we have demand for more seats. “We made our investment in the student-athletes with locker rooms and dedicated office space for our men’s and women’s coaching staffs. We already had a men’s locker room in that facility, so what we really wanted to do was bring balance between the two programs, especially knowing that we intended on elevating the women’s program.” www.uscho.com/2016/10/28/holy-cross-womens-hockey-to-upgrade-to-division-i/#ixzz4OQ2cVsPT
