BC Nebraska Villanova GTown Air Force SHU UConn - I think if we had played the NY Times National Champions in their first game back after not having played in two years, it's possibly a win. But I think they'll clean up a lot of stuff and play better in their second game. It will be close but their size advantage on the line will put them over.

If we use our base defense with only 2 LBs and 5 DBs we could be playing into their hands since I expect them to try and ground and pound their way to victory. We need to either use a third LB or a bigger DB who can play in the box. If we send out a 180 pound safety, I would expect UConn to identify that and try to run the football down his and our throats.

Okay, ready to make some pics (never can before game week and I always include a score just for kicks)
BOSTON COLLEGE 52 v Colgate 3
NEBRASKA 48 v Fordham 17
VILLANOVA 34 @ Lehigh 10
GEORGETOWN 23 v Marist 7
AIR FORCE 45 v Lafayette 6
SACRED HEART 31 v Bucknell 13
Holy Cross @ UCONN deserves its own thread for final prediction, outlook/commentary. Need another 24 hours or so to stew….

Besides HC/UCONN only thing I'm really looking for is if Fordham can score on Nebraska.

If Fordham can block well enough to get 200 yrs passing... we got problems

If Fordham can block well enough to get 200 yrs passing... we got problems I'm guessing Fordham throws about 0 deep balls, grinds the clock with running plays and very short dump offs, and puts their backup and 3rd string QBs in for a long spell. Accomplishing the objectives of showing up, burning the clock, limiting injuries, picking up the check, and heading home. Don't see a 200 yard passing game in the offing. Something tells me a healthy DeMorat and a 55-0 shellacking would be a very acceptable outcome for Fordham.

I figured if DeMorat and the 1 Fordham offense plays 3 full quarters, they could score once or twice on the Nebraska 2’s or 3’s in the third and/or early 4th quarter. I figure both teams will play their 1’s the entire 1st half regardless of score and the Rams will throw but more West Coast possession type routes (5-12 yds)…not what they will do against FCS competition (deeper slants, crosses and go-routes 15 + yards) So this final will all depend on what each team does in the 2nd half. I guess I should pick a half time score (Nebraska 31 - Fordham 7).

boston college- this will not be pretty Nebraska-- this will not be pretty Villanova-- had a down year last year-expecting a bounce backGeorgetown-- program is certainly better than it was a decade ago Air Force--this will not be pretty Sacred Heart--program has certainly improved Holy Cross-- this will be pretty Nova finished the 'down' season ranked 16th in the nation which gives an idea of the strength of the program. Finished 2-2 with one loss a wild 3-point (37-40) overtime loss to URI (!) and the other a 7-point loss to a very good Delaware squad. Anyone with free time on their hands might want to DVR it (noon kickoff) to see their QB. He runs and throws. Exactly the sort of FCS guy we are looking for. (As a matter of fact this is the sort of program we want and you can't be at that level without a QB like that.)

I have to believe based on how many are picking HC over UConn that:
1. a lot of Crossporters have imbibed in the purple Kool-Aid or 2. a lot of Crossporters really, really think UConn stinks despite their D-IA status or 3.both
My head and gut tell me this will be a toss-up game and went with the Crusaders more on heart than head.

FYI, 4/5 Globe prognosticators pick HC over UConn. I would have picked them regardless. BC Nebraska Villanova AFA (my Dad was Army-Air Corps). Bucknell Holy Cross

I’d rather the experts gave us little to no chance. “Under promise and over deliver.” I don’t want to give the Huskies any greater opportunity to be looking to prove themselves after Fresno.
