HC19, surely being a diligent student, will be present for every scheduled class on Friday. Others, though, will mentally and physically be far from the ice and cold of Worcester. ______ I do believe that HC's shifting from a calendar where the first semester ended in January (followed by a short break) put the kibosh on ever again averaging 4,000 for hoops at the Hart. Your thinking students actually drive the attendance at the Hart clearly shows that you haven't seen a game in almost 10 years.
Ever banging out the Hart again has a LOT more to do with locals than it does with students.
Have you forgotten how bad the team has been for the past 5-6 years? We need students to attend games, and that will happen whenever we start winning consistently again. If the PL continues with the same awful scheduling as this year, with most games on Mondays or Wednesdays, and only one home Saturday game, we don't have a prayer at drawing ~3,500 locals. The idea that hockey would have student support in the same ballpark as a successful hoops team is lunacy.

I think an equally successful hoop team in PL and hockey team in HE would be a lot closer than you think in terms of student attendance. But yes, basketball is more popular than hockey, that is not in question.

Interesting hypothetical, but the chance of us consistently competing with BC, BU, etc at the top of the Hockey East is slim to none. If we still had Pearl + a new facility, then maybe there would be a chance. But expecting us to jump to that level with the current coach and facility situation (even if we are the lone hockey team at the DCU, which some are pretending is the TD Garden or Ralph Engelstad Arena) is not realistic.
