The new practice court is being named after George Blaney. His fellow classmates in the class of '61 were instrumental in funding the naming rights.

It's in the latest edition of the "Being More" newsletter that just came in the mail.

It's in the latest edition of the "Being More" newsletter that just came in the mail. That's correct. I wouldn't be surprised if other classes aren't securing naming rights for other parts of Luth, or considering such.

Perhaps '67 could pay towards a big video screen to celebrate our 50th.

I agree with the Blaney naming. Many people deserve naming recognition. How about the Pakachoag Phreek Mathematics Department.

I agree with the Blaney naming. Many people deserve naming recognition. How about the Pakachoag Phreek Mathematics Department. Not with my calculus grades they won't. As for a class donating a video board, the one at the DCU Center cost $2.1 million. Step right up! Re: a video board at the Hart. If they are even thinking of such, I believe they either would need to reinforce the roof trusses, or string steel cabling. from which to hang it. A board at the Hat would be smaller than the one at the DCU.

Marist has video screens wall-mounted at both ends of the gym. At one end of the Hart court is the Bud Ryan room.

I was in the new lobby on this past Saturday night. Very much true to form of the architectural renderings and concept on the web site. .... At the entrance, they saved money by changing the glass from from long rectangular sections to smaller square sections. They also added an overhang, a quasi-porch. I did not like the new masonry color in the rendering, but I see in the finished brick, that the brick striping seems to approximate the Hart's original brick.

Marist has video screens wall-mounted at both ends of the gym. Merrimack hockey just put in video screens too...actually smaller than the HC hoops facility.

When you drive down 290 in Worcester it's an impressive sight up on top of the hill.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by it being a practice court. Should be George Blaney Court on which we play the games.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by it being a practice court. Should be George Blaney Court on which we play the games. Wild speculation on my part, but given the whole complex is called Luth, I'd be surprised if Coach Blaney would accept the honor knowing it might mean removing Fr Hart's name from the place. I'm not sure what will be left with his name, but since the game court is original to the building, that is most likely to keep the name. There aren't too many alum from the 40's through the 80's who would want to see Fr Hart's name disappear
