In an attempt not to be completely curmudgeonly about the hoop team, kudos to them for taking it to their opponent today in the second half.

It did run out with 1.4 sec. left. (They could've let Hart shoot, I suppose.)

For HC... 10 players with court time (6 or more minutes) 10 players scored 9 players had 45 rebounds (to 26 for CMSV) Nice balance there. 7 blocks - 5 by CoulibalyOnly 14 turnovers (getting better slowly) - 19 turnovers by CMSV i want to watch replay as i thought kenney had 2 blocks

Post what you find. The announcers were mixing up some of the players names from time to time.

In a blowout Dorsey was the only one not to play - why? {Rabinovich is injured with an ankle I believe)

Game takeaways: 1) We might have something in Louth. Yes, the competition wasn’t good, but he’s a lot farther along than I expected at this point. 2) Gates and RJJ looked pretty good out there, and I’m hoping will be ready to start and play significant minutes Saturday 3) With the aforementioned duo hopefully back, and Luc appearing to be a dynamic scorer and secondary ballhandler, the biggest thing that I’ll be looking for in the next stretch of games is some type of consistency from Martindale, Bo, and Bubba. They’ve all shown flashes, but consistency has been lacking. Gates, RJJ, Luc, 2-3 of this group (particularly Martindale with his shooting) and we have something that Nelson should really be able to work with. Fingers crossed that today was a confidence booster to springboard this group.

Dorsey hasn't been in uniform the last 3 games.

I can't get excited about today's win. The only thing we can say is that Holy Cross can now beat a D3 team, something they couldn't do a few years ago. Is that really progress? Let's now see if HC can get a few quality D1 wins.

Dare I say that Mount St Vincent was defeated high atop Mount St James. Perhaps HC should schedule Mount St Mary

Post what you find. The announcers were mixing up some of the players names from time to time. Right around the 10:00 mark in second half-- Kenney and Coulibaly go up to block the first shot. the Dolphin gets the rebound and goes up again and my eyes would award the second block to Kenney and maybe the first as well. Not a big deal, of course

Rather be 2-2 than 0-4 heading into UNH, but hopefully we can jumpstart the season on Saturday. It’d be a great day on the Hill with a couple wins!

When I was official scorer back in the 1960, I often had the same problem with Texiera and Siudet when both were sophs.

Great halftime adjustments by HCBN!! (Did I get that right? That's just what you're supposed to regurgitate when the score is different in the 2nd half, right?) Outline those adjustments for us--what changes did CBN put in place?

Best moment of the game came down the stretch when #21 stepped to the line. Dead quiet in the gym. Little kid pipes up from behind the HC bench. “#21 likes to be tickled.” On the second free throw, same kid says “tickle, tickle.” Wanted to adopt that kid. He’d fit right in.

The announcer just said Nelson told him the Cross played two great halves in Florida. Really. What halves were those. That along with the earlier comments attributed to BN about the team showing pockets of greatness on D makes me really wonder about this guy. Perhaps he was misquoted. Just looking at the box scores. . . HC was down 2 at the half to Air Force. After being down a bunch at the half, HC played Bryant fairly even in the second half I will assume he meant the first half of the first game and second half of the second game. I think it's less impressive to play even in the second half in that scenario. I didn't see the game, but even if the game was too close for Bryant to call off the dogs, weird things can happen in the closing minute or 2 of a game than can give a false impression of the general tenor of the game Tom, the game was exactly the opposite of that. The lead was somewhere in the 10-14 point range at the half (after a very bad final two minutes); then ballooned to 30 on 3 occasions before garbage time rendered the final score 16 or so. If Nelson was referring to that half, even Caro has to rethink his coaching ability.

I thought Louth looked like he has stepped up his game. He isn't great, yet, but he did show his D often and looked much more comfortable on the floor.RJJ looked pretty good out there, he is getting back into game shape. It was good to see JM hit some shots, seems to me he misses more often when he fails to square up his feet before shooting, especially coming off screens. He gave the D a big boost in the second half, diving for 3or4 loose balls.. HC played with more energy in the second half, coaches got them going..GG looks great out there, including hitting a few 3's.He has the best hands on the team, when he goes after the ball, it is his! 9 player rotation today, Dorsey and MR in sweats. MR seems to have an ankle problem, a slight limp and it appeared he had one ankle wrapped., no clue on Dorsey. The team D was much better in the 2nd half. They seemed a bit slow to anticipate in the first half. It is so nice to see HC go to the hoop and rebound on both ends of the court. Louth and Gates on the floor together is a physical front court, Louth has to power the ball to the hoop, too timid on O right know, the coaches told him about this a number of times....Kyrell L payed the 2 guard to RJJ for a while. Turnovers down to 15, a few "freshman mistakes" out there...51% on FG's and 45% on 3's today....

Spot on analysis but tempered by the fact this was a smaller D3 team. Will say that initially St. Vincent had the spirit and enthusiasm with the bench telling “Defense” in unison like cheerleaders (or NAD). They had the lead or close to it for probably the first 10-12 minutes.

Well, they were better than Regis, for what that's worth. IIRC that game was over after 10 minutes.

So it would have been much better had Holy Cross, if possible, scheduled Yeshiva and then beaten them. Hard to believe I’m writing about HC possibly scheduling and playing another D-3 team. Oy vey!
