And in case you were wondering, no beer and wine at Fitton tomorrow per NCAA rules.

Ditto. My gosh it seemed the stands shook with some of the hits by the great Jon Morris. And, he was a very decent fellow. He also more than held his own in intramurals...not bad on the boards IIRC (the few games he was able to play).

Because I looked them up, here are the official attendance figures for each of our games this year: Merrimack 8211 Harvard 10023 (Homecoming) Georgetown 4518 (Fall Break) Colgate 9508 (Polar Park and Family Weekend) Lafayette 6514 Compared to what other PL teams draw, these numbers are quite strong. While I officially predicted 8192, a number like 6500 would be pretty good given the cold weather and empty campus. I posted this on the AGS board but noting it here to support this point. 2021 PL attendance (net of HC playoff game): Holy Cross 7,754 Lehigh 5,639 Lafayette: 2,860 Fordham: 2,642 Bucknell: 2,414 Georgetown: 2,265 Colgate: 2,042 League games only: Holy Cross 6,846 Lehigh 6,385 (incl. 12K vs. Lafayette) Lafayette: 2,650 Fordham: 2,341 Georgetown: 2,183 Colgate: 1,833 Bucknell: 1,110

Football still matters at Lehigh. Not so much Bucknell. Someone posted on the Bucknell board that they were at the Bucknell-HC game and counted 130 people on the Bucknell side.

Was hoping Cool Beans would be open in Hogan before the game so we could get a little food and be inside before we head to the game. Alas, it’s closed all day. Two home games with a projected 90-120 minute break in between. This is where HC is tone deaf about enhancing the game day experience. According to the AD job specs all departments are supposed to be integrated and complimentary for the shared mission, but there does not seem to be good cooperation or anyone to direct it.

At least they moved the basketball game. There are (bad) concessions at Hart. Maybe Crossroads will open at 4?

Not a chance. I've got to figure out where to eat between football and basketball as the Hart food is a non-starter for certain people in my family. It's gotta be close by and pretty fast as once I leave my football parking garage space I'd like to get back on campus so I have a pretty short walk to the Hart Center.

Snow has already coated the new grass by the PCPA. ______________ I think dining services has a minimal crew with most of the students away for Thanksgiving. Tuesday was the last day for COVID testing until next week.

I've got about 2 inches of snow on the ground here, about 10 miles west of Fitton Field....

Hope that I am wrong, but due to snow on the ground, and Thanksgiving weekend with students away, the attendance will be approximately 4,900.
Otherwise, with an additional week to promote the game, and students on campus, with friends and family, the attendance would be doubled.

What I think is tough is a first week home playoff game in FCS students are away. If the basketball team has home games in the PL tournament students are away. If baseball makes it to the PL final students are about to leave.
Its just scheduling but its tough.

While I admire the optimism of the two posters who voted for "Fitton is packed" I think that, with the weather, their prediction might be a smidge off.

I'd rather we be in the playoffs with students away than have the students on campus and not be in the playoffs. Ideally we'd have both. C'est la vie.
As there's been criticism that Holy Cross has too many students from Massachusetts and New England/New York specifically, if the students are interested enough, they can make the trip back to campus as the old alums do. I wonder what kind of turnout there will be today by the students?

Heard (yesterday) that ticket sales were going very well! Should be between 7,000 and 7,500 if what I heard is reliable....
We have just a slight dusting here 12 miles SE of Holy Cross, but judging by the HC webcams Worcester got more....

Sun brightly shining in RI and in the high 30's. Wind will make it feel colder in Fitton. But, hopefully the sun will melt any snow/ice/moisture on the playing field. The reserved cushioned seat might need to have the ice scraped off them like the last game. I have my "official" Holy Cross stadium seats, so I'm good.
GO CROSS GO!

"Plenty of sunshine. High 36F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph. Higher wind gusts possible".
"Feels like 25".
Bless those that like sitting in that. I don't any more, if I'm not moving (walking or running) it takes too much out of me.
Don't expect the field to be an issue.

Talking with a fellow alum the other day, and knowing they drew 10k for Harvard, my guess was attendance might hit 15k if the weather was decent. And for the first home playoff game in 38 years, that was decent weather. It's Nov. 27, not Sept. 27! When I saw 4,136 I thought it was a type. Actually checked another site to make sure it wasn't. Embarassing. Don't care about the cash gate. High school students and kids should've got in free with an adult. HC must've known a home game was possible before last Sunday so NO excuses. Shows why the next AD hire MUST be a good one. Apparently no one on current staff is conscious.
