Can't believe what I'm reading here today. What a great win for WBB. Couldn't care less who didn't play for Lehigh. Looked to me like they had plenty of talent on the floor. I dont know who their best player is supposed to be, but their leading scorer played and Cross covered her all over the court today. A terrific defensive effort. And LaBarbera and the rest of the team were fun to watch. Great win We agree, Lou: Great win. A terrific defensive effort. Cross was superb on D (as she has been all year). Great win for WBB. Plenty of talent on the floor for Lehigh. Avery and crew fun to watch. I could not care less who didn't play for Lehigh, either. But it can also be true and worth noting, as we all chip in our views on the game, that Lehigh suffered for missing their best player (it's Hottinger) and not having their point guard (Steele) at 100%. Bringing it up for context of what the win might mean for the Crusaders in the larger picture seems reasonable. Anyway, a fun win to enjoy!

Might just be me but Avery strikes me as being the "Austin Butler" of the ladies team. Not only does she give 100% (I'm a believer that no one can give "110%" - max out at 100%), but she provides the enthusiasm, joy and leadership that appears mostly lacking on this year's men's team without Butler (I use "Butler" rather than "Austin" so as not to confuse with Austin Lewis who I'd really, really like to see get more time on the floor). Speaking from personal experience, Avery is also a very gracious person. She's a credit to Holy Cross and her team. I agree 200% with these comments. But I'd like to see Gerale Gates get the opportunity to fulfill the AB role by Nelson giving him the AL role in his post game tweet. The effort quotient on the floor of GG is reminiscent of AB. Even if GG doesn't hit the floor as often, he doesn't stop balling under the basket until he gets the bucket. This is not a criticism of BN or Sir Charles, but I like the Coach Magarity approach where she makes her comments without the unseen interviewer and then turns it over to an impact player or players for their comments. But give BN a chance to get used to post victory comments. Also Coach Magarity validated Old School Hoops' analysis of Lehigh being depleted. But that's what good teams do - they take advantage of every opportunity.

What would you say her upside is and who would you liken her to? Or have we seen too little to know? I saw a bunch of her HS games that were streamed. At the time, I thought she might well have been the best of the incoming recruits - she is big, athletic, good speed up & down the floor and could play inside and out. From everything I heard, she was going to be a likely starter until her very late pre-season injury. She reminded me at the time of Brit Kiel A likely starter in 2021-22 or 2020-21? Only asking to try and figure out which injury(ies) we are talking about.

Where did the announcers come from for the game? No one would ever accuse them of being HC homers, that's for sure.
If Bob F was still with us and active; would have been a good contest to see what was mentioned more: Bob's xxxxth meeting ever or LU's best player not playing.

By the way, I think I said earlier in this thread she wasn't dressed for the game, in fact, she was.

So a back problem that caused her to miss a season in HS and an ACL that caused this year to really be her freshman year. Bad luck, that's for sure.

Indeed, then again look at Demski - missed all of her senior yr on HS when she tore both ACL & MCL, then had a clean out on her knee and then tore her ACL again! She was the most highly touted recruit in her class (IIRC, she had about 10-12 offers besides HC), I doubt we have ever seen her at more than 80-90%.

When I tuned into the women's game at noon on Saturday, I saw that the two Kevin announcing team had tapped out after a Friday evening men's game. In his prime, Bob F. would never do that and he carried the whole broadcast without a color commentator. He was colorful enough on his own, plus the background noise of "screaming meemies" (sp?) Then as Bob aged, Dick Lutsk, another pro's pro, joined the broadcast team. We were blessed. But it is nice to see all the games on ESPN+.

On the bright side, I hope Demski has more upside during the rest of the season and PLT than the average senior of her talent level at the beginning of league play. Petro is also a spring chicken when it comes to playing time during her first three years.

Petro is also a spring chicken when it comes to playing time during her first three years. Her experience might not be up to the level of your average senior as she's missed so much time over the years. For example, she threw up a couple of terrible 3s yesterday. Not so much because they missed (badly) but the situation didn't call for them to be attempted in the first place.

An acquired taste? I bonded with Bob on winter nights through the static as my bent coat hanger with one end wrapped around the end of the radio antenna and the other wrapped around a metal cabinet door knob somehow pulled in the signal.

a stat that we need to improve -- we are last as a team in ft pct at 62% while lehigh is 1st at 79% I know Avery shoots at a very high pct so the rest of the team must improve

With the way Lehigh played tonight at home vs bucknell I would hope our win in Worcester really wasn’t an upset I think BU might be the best team right now

My BU is Boston U - Bucknell is Bucknell (I think we had this discussion a couple of years ago but worth repeating)
