The women are now 10-6 (4-1 in the PL). They next play Lafayette at home on Wed. (6:00 pm). The WBB success, in a small way, gives BN some cover. If both the men and women were tanking along with both hockey programs the pressure Kit might feel to take action could be greater and BN would likely be the focus first. One winning program may provide a little more time for thoughtful evaluation by our new AD. It gives him no cover first five minutes after we lose in the playoff he should be removed even if we lose in the finals

Lex Therein for Loyola has Manis level potential. Her father Chris Therein played 12 years in the NHL and two older sisters played basketball at Loyola. She will be a double double machine in the PL. Must had not been good enough to follow their father to PC.

Must had not been good enough to follow their father to PC. Three full scholarships in one family, getting close to seven figures, is a pretty good haul. I'm sure Dad is very pleased with Loyola and it's closer to their home outside of Philly than Providence.

Nice win, out of conference I don't know how this team stacks up.
But in conference they are easily one of the best PL teams.

Is Nelson's fate already sealed even if his coaching and his recruits start to jell and HC gets to the league championship game? Not that I think there is much chance of that, but I think a dismissal would be unlikely if it did happen. I think attention would shift to other poorly performing sports at that point. A young team that loses in the finals is generally considered a contender for the championship the next season. If we did get to the finals we might hear from BBC again, so that's a silver lining.

She only switched to Loyola after their coach left for Wisconsin.

The decision to keep/remove Nelson has to be made on whether or not KH thinks he can or can't do the job. The season's been so terrible I don't think 1,2,3,4 games in March will indicate much of anything.

Can't argue with that.

Not that it’s going to happen but I think Kit or any AD would be hard pressed to fire a coach who had a terrible regular season but finished the year with a league championship and an NCAA tournament game, win or lose there.

Even if the AD thought the coach was lucky and couldn't do the job, that would be trumped by the fact that he just did the job. Plus how is the AD going to get that buy out approved as the admissions dept. is getting increased inquiries after the publicity from getting to the NCAA?

It would depend how we get there. If we lose out and then get hot and shoot 75% to make it to the final or win the tourney, he could still get fired. If we show steady improvement and wind up middle of the pack in the regular season and then make the finals, he probably will stay. We’ll see how it plays out. Hoping we do show steady improvement and wind up in the middle of the pack by the end of the year and make a run in the tourney. Fearing that will not happen and we’ll be back to square one in a few months.
