Officiating was poor but balanced for much of the game, but Siena benefitted from several terrible calls down the stretch. Here is what a big Siena fan - but hardly a Siena sycophant - had to say on Twitter after the game: "Last 3 minutes was the worst home job I have seen and that is saying something with Siena. Bucknell hosed." This is from one of the most respected posters on the MAAC board. 3. BU didn't miss any foul shots in the last 8:25, going 5-5 over that time period, so making pressure foul shots was not an issue. They were 19-25 for the game. What lost the game statistically was Bucknell repeatedly missing wide-open threes. 4. Siena does not play Albany State, which is in Georgia. Perhaps Holy Cross University could schedule them. . 5. Reason game was not at the TUC is that Siena screwed up and didn't check arena availability before they committed to playing Bucknell on that date.

Well, it would be terrible if they were contagious and gave it to the BU players just as they are about to play Holy Cross in a Turnpike Trophy game.

American really isn't very good this year. They struggled to beat UMES, one of the worst teams in the country, who entered today's game 1-10 with their lone winning coming against a non-D1.
American is a young team and their freshmen look pretty good, but I'm not sure they reach double digit wins this year.
Conversely, Army is much stronger than expected. Interested to see how they compete at St. Bonaventure tonight. They have two underclassmen who are pretty good in Tommy Funk (freshman) and Jordan Fox (sophomore).

I have a fairly vivid recollection of Bucknell missing a couple of foul shots at crunch time. Perhaps it was during their run when they had Siena on the ropes.
Albany State is what folks who grew up in the Capital District call what is now UAlbany.
In any event, it was a great opportunity for Bucknell to play up.
Hope your trip to upstate New York was a safe one.

In any event, it was a great opportunity for Bucknell to play up. Bucknell wasn't "playing up," IMO. They've been a stronger program than Siena in recent seasons. This game was a virtual toss-up.

Wow, I would expect some of the other posters to overreact to one game--not you, SOV. AU started the season with three guarantee games--at Maryland, at Texas A&M, at Akron--with the predictable results, although we only lost by six at Maryland. Since then, we're 3-4, including today's win against UMES. Not great, but is a game under .500 something to sound alarms about? Today, we were up 24-11 after 12 minutes, and then we let up, which is not uncommon for a young team. But we made enough plays down the stretch to hold on for the win. You may not think it important, but I suspect we were looking ahead a bit to our game Wednesday at top-ranked Villanova. If you're saying we're going 6-12 in the PL, well, I'll disagree with that, rather vehemently. I think Mike Brennan has shown he knows how to put a team together and make a strong run at the end of the season. But we'll see.

Your last statement is precisely what I am thinking. I haven't seen anything out of AU that makes me think they won't be one of the bottom three teams in the PL. It seems like, at this juncture, it will be AU, Colgate, and Lafayette bringing up the rear. Perhaps Brennan will get it together, like he did last year, to finish .500 in the PL, but I don't see it. What's going on with Delante Jones?

What's going on with Delante Jones? Again, I'm surprised you're basing PL predictions on OOC play. That often doesn't work out well. A lot of people said the same thing in '14 when we were 4-7 in the OOC. Brennan has always used OOC to look at different players and combinations to see what he can count on when the games truly matter, not now. Today we played a guy 17 minutes, including down the stretch, who almost never takes off his warmups. Frankly, the things we will likely struggle with this season are in very short supply in the PL. Delante has struggled to start the season. He's being asked to do much more than just score this year, and he isn't the first option every time down this year with a point guard as dynamic as Sa'eed Nelson on the ball and playing every minute. I think he'll be fine in conference. I seem to recall around this time last year everyone saying how formidable Army was going to be with five senior starters. How'd that work out?

Are Howard and St. Francis PA not comparable -- if not worse -- than many of the teams in the PL? If Brennan is treating some of these games more like exhibitions to ready AU for the PL, then okay...but I suspect that's not the case. I've only watched AU a handful of times, but their offense is downright brutal. Maybe the loss of Jesse Reed hurts more than some would think? How about a friendly message board wager that AU doesn't win more than six games in the PL?
