The AD equivalent comes from a hospitality, marketing and branding background and moved over from enrollment management or something. The Newmac conference with Connecticut College would be a home run but probably out of reach. The Great North AC, the Commonwealth Coast Conference and the Little East would all be good choices. Why would Conn leave the NESCAC? I think it is essential to their academic reputation.

Rumor (more than that?) is Nichols in Dudley planning to move up from D-3 to D-2. You guys are better informed but Hartford to Dudley not a long run. Any chance that together they can go into or create a new conference/league? Assumption is D-2, right? Any other proximate D-2s? Northeast 10 (St. Mikes, St. A's, Assumption, SCSU, AIC, Lemoyne, Adelphi, Bentley, Pace, Franklin Pierce) would be a perfect landing spot for Hartford. The travel would be manageable. I don't think that most of these schools give out many scholarships outside of basketball. I have to think that it is a better fit than the Little East or NEWMAC for probably not much more money. With recent departures of Stonehill, Merrimack, UMass Lowell, the northeast 10 might be looking for schools

I think Bryant and CW Post were both NE 10 schools as well. New Haven has been angling for a DI move but rumor is that CCSU and SHU may be blocking them joining the NEC.

I hope those two fine Institutions are proud of themselves. They got into the NEC and now they want to blow up the bridge over the moat to the castle?
The NEC should be like the Statue of Liberty, lifting the lamp beside the golden door to the huddled masses in D-2 yearning to breathe free.

Penn State Harrisburg is coached by Don Friday, who was a long time assistant coach for Pat Flannery at Bucknell. He is a very good coach. As for St Joes coach Glenn Miller, he was an assistant for Calhoun at UConn on the way up and then he was an assistant for Calhoun at Uconn after being fired in mid season as Penn’s head coach. Also was the head coach at Brown Miller's most notable feat at Brown was winning an Ivy road game at Princeton, something no other Brown hoops coach had achieved in the history of the league. There was quite a celebration at Jadwin that night.

Any PL FB team that wins at Fitton or Polar this year will go berserk.

Any chance that together they can go into or create a new conference/league? Assumption is D-2, right? Any other proximate D-2s? All the D-2's with Assumption are within basically a five hour radius. The farthest drive is to Lemoyne in Syracuse area but the rest of them are either in NH, Springfield, Vermont, or upstate/just outside of NYC.

Hartford & the rest are in a netherworld totally unrelated to HC and other first line schools. Wish nothing but the best for these schools, but other than that, I have little interest in these far away places.

I heard Nichols is definitely going D2. I know little about Nichols but isn’t it a bit small even for D 2? What does D 2 do for them that D 3 does not deliver?

They have 1,300 +/- undergrads and just under 300 grad students. The new president, Glenn Sulmasy comes by way of Bryant that went from a college to a university and from D2 to D1.
He is ambitious for this college that was founded in 1815 and on record of saying he wants to see Nichols go from D3 to D2 (and eventually D1). I would be surprised if he doesn't lead them to university status within 5 years.
He apparently sees athletics as a way to enhance the school’s image (he could never work at Holy Cross!😉).
Expect to see Nichols grow in size. Their campus is very nice.

P.S. Their basketball team has been VERY successful the last 4-5 years despite a succession of coaches who have moved on to better programs and RJ Evans was an assistant coach there.
