I have followed BG closely for his entire tenure at HC. There have been times when he substituted with mind numbing rapidity--almost like a manic episode. Don't know how to explain that. For years we always looked like a well coached team on Offense--often better than the mens team. In recent years, however, I think he's slipped a couple of notches. I have no idea why. When he returned to the team after the law suit (unsubstantiated IMO) with the former athlete, he has seemed a bit off. I remember the assistant coaches and the team on nice win streak in his absence. Was that just a case of a weak schedule? The team play did seem substantially better at that point.

McInerny, based on her resume, is probably a helluva coach.

the big difference between then and now was not the coach being "a bit off" (whatever that means) ,but the presence of Raquel Scott and the subsequent failure to replace her "A bit off" means that the team did not seem to be playing quite as well as a team and it was not clear that the coach was able to correct that. I did not say that was the big difference (as you put it) but was making an observation about team chemistry as it involved the coach. Clearly, anyone who watched the play of Scott and saw what she meant to the team knew that her loss was huge. That is a separate issue. Having listen to Coach Gibbons on the coaches show last night, I feel a bit better about the season's prospects. It was good to hear that the six freshmen are blending in well with the veterans. I hope we see a step up against Marist.

Seton Hall beat Marist by 13, and beat BC by 5. On the basis of that, I would say Marist is probably a close match-up.
