I think that the comment was about the fact that the 2nd and 3rd people in line of succession to the Presidency are in their 80's which, even in 21st century terms, is kind of old to be handling that type of a job. Old is old whether you agree or disagree with a person's viewpoint on various issues. On a positive note - outside of Hollywood, I don't think we've ever come close to the Speaker ever assuming the duties of the President - never mind the President Pro Temp of the Senate. Even when Bush was out of town when Reagan was shot, I don't think anyone handed Tip O'Neil the nuclear codes Exactly. It could have been two Republican fossils as easily as those two. What is a Republican fossil? How do dead bones register for a party affiliation (except, of course, in Mayor Daly's Chicago).

I'm petrified of becoming a fossil.

I can't tell if UNH (not Foley's) has continued to pursue Division 1 or not (last definitive article that pops up is from March of 2021). If not, I don't see them playing D1 opponents in football. The NE10 is D2, but is need based, not scholarship. Different from the New Haven football program that knocked off Villanova in 2001 or whenever it was. They actually dropped football for a while. New Haven announced about a year and a half ago that they would like to move their athletics up to Division I, however they have not yet been invited to a conference. The NEC is the most obvious fit, but from what I've heard SHU and CCSU do not want another in-state competitor with football. If not for that issue, New Haven would seemingly be a perfect replacement for UHART. The New Haven powerhouse squads of the late 1990's and early 2000's played an independent schedule. Typically they'd play 7-8 D2 schools a year and 2-3 I-AA schools. New Haven dropped football after the 2003 season and revived it in 2009 or 2010 IIRC. Can't recall for sure the last time New Haven played a DI opponent but I remember they were scheduled to play Dartmouth in 2020 before COVID cancelled the fall season -- I think this was a last minute add after Jacksonville dropped football. New Haven did play William & Mary in 2012 or 2013 and lost a close game in Williamsburg, 13-10 I think.

I look askance at suggestions that HC drop a sport or two because the reinstatement rate is significant and the turmoil and resentment churned up before during and after isn't worth it.
I don't know anything about the UNH (not Foley's) fan base but I bet the whole dropping and reinstatement stuck in their collective craw.
If a school is facing existential threats from finances, that's different.

That was more people than Holy Cross got for their NCAA Home Game. New Haven has been adding teams recently with Rugby, Men's and Women's Golf.

Compare that to the 3987 who flooded the Yale Bowl the week before when the Bulldogs opened against the Beast of the East, HC. UNH vs SCU was family day and both teams were local which makes a difference.

Not bad for a D-2 program when the "BEAST of the East" was playing across town.

Somebody’s jealous that we’re currently really good and his alma mater is not. When you have one NCAA win over a NEC team, that is a huge feather in your cap huh? UNH's slide started when the coach got cancer and I question them hiring an alum with zero head coaching experience as his replacement. They did that in hockey and it has been more of the same bad/mediocre hockey.

We agree. HC is good and UNH is not. HC is good because they hired a good coach. HC just like UNH should be a stepping stone to better gigs.

Can this small school's message board please also be your stepping stone to a bigger school's one?
