St Anselm beat HC twice in regular season (7-3 at HC in their last meeting). HC ties it at 2 each with 15 seconds left. Now on to overtime!

St A about to start a 5 on 3 They gave them a 5-on-3 in OT of a championship game? Not something you see every day.

GREAT game, and stick salute to St. A's, which lost last year to HC in OT on its home ice. Only wish the game had been settled 5x5. A dump of a venue for a championship game. Would have rather played AT St. A's again. By far the best team on campus the past three (at least) years, this team deserves a permanent home in D-1 for 2018-19. It'll be uphill, but they'll do us proud.

The 18 scholarships will certainly help. Presuming they get 18. How many do they have now?

The 18 scholarships will certainly help. Presuming they get 18. How many do they have now? The current roster almost certainly has a number of players who are receiving need-based aid, which shows as $0 for Title IX purposes. Whether that aid amounts to six scollie equivalents or 12, I don't know. I do believe that HC would not be jumping to 18 if the need-based scollie equivalents were zero, or close to zero. I expect the cost of going from zero to 18 would have resulted in W's ice hockey being relegated to a club sport, and the scollie monies distributed among other women's sports to put HC on a par with BostU and BC.

Really, that's a bit of a surprise, so they knew 2 yrs ago that they had to move to a D1 league and the committed nothing? so, is the incoming class with or with out scholarships and how many has the Admin guaranteed for the program?

When football went back to scollies, the number of need-based scollie equivalents at HC was, IIRC, estimated to be in the low-mid 40s. Several other schools, particularly Fordham*, had a much higher number of scollie equivalents when the switch to scollies began. Assuming they do as they did in football, they will not convert a need-based 3/4 scollie equivalent to a full scollie. All new recruits would receive merit aid, though not necessarily 100 percent. In football, schools are prohibited from adding to the merit based scollie cap with additional need-based scollies, and the additional now-merit scollies were phased in over four years. * Fordham may have had more scollie equivalents than the 63 scollie cap for FCS. The Ivies are not constrained by the FCS scolloie cap, and Georgetown is not either. I believe GU committed to stay within the PL roster cap of 90, but, in theory, GU could have 75 scollie equivalents on the football team.

Depth will be an issue at first but depth less of an issue in women's hockey. Incorrect. At least as of my time of graduation, a number of women's players were receiving fairly generous amounts of NON-need based aid. Given that the play on the ice has gotten even better since then, my guess is that this aid has not disappeared.

Any player who told you they were getting aid based on hockey skills was not being truthful.

Believe it or not, I only know this because I dated someone on the team and saw it on their tuition bill listed as "HC Women's Hockey Fund". And this individual in no way shape or form would have been able to qualify for need-based financial aid. Maybe the aid was pooled out of donations to the athletic department and not from the school's athletic funding itself? Perhaps this difference would allow HC to comply with the conferences aid policy?
