Damn, after seeing what SDSU is doing to Montana St today, we really weren't all that far away from -- to quote Jake Taylor -- "win[ning] the whole f****** thing" More ammo that HC was absolutely underseeded. Not that anybody on this board needs to be further convinced of that... It's the PL penalty. That being said, the PL is where we belong for football and that ain't gonna change, like it or not. HC is a reputable academic institution, first and foremost. The PL is widely known as a superior academic grouping. Sports are...and should be...secondary to the school's main mission. To wit, to continually enhance its academic quality and reputation. As rabid a supporter of Crusader football as I may be (and I am), football is not...and should not be...the institution's raison d'etre. Some on this board see the CAA as where we should be in football. But the CAA is slowly coming unglued. James Madison has left and the rumor mill has Delaware following soon. The new members they've brought in are something less than impressive. The PL mat be able to attract other serious academic institutions in coming years from the CAA -- e.g., W&M, Richmond, and/or Villanova. Now, wouldn't that be grand!

We were once a superior school, but other than Colgate the rest of the PL are in a bucket of very good schools. We do offer a superior academic experience, but that is different than ratings and rankings on how you’re considered by your peers and those that evaluate you.
Athletically we should seek the same level of excellence as we expect academically, and we should focus more on the spiritual growth of the community as men and women for others. If we choose to focus on academics alone we are one of 50 liberal arts schools, or one of 100 colleges and universities.
If, however, we look to excel in each area, we are not only superior to most schools, but we become special and uniquely prepared to deliver on our mission.
With respect to the CAA it might not exist in three-five year's, but aligning with some of it's members will allow us to build and achieve athletic excellence. The spiritual piece is more complicated, but for the future of our faith and the Church, we need to find answers.
Take control of our future in each bucket and we will return as the premier Catholic liberal arts school in the United States and create a special future for Holy Cross as an institution committed to the community, an environment that demands rigor and scholarly work, and a place were athletics is about excellence, teamwork, and performance at the highest level. Much work ahead, but it is possible.

One positive of the 2022 schedule is HC faced an OOC opponent in the tenth game. It was a competitive game in between two league blow outs against Lehigh and Georgetown.

The closeness of that game did not help our seeding.

The closeness of that game did not help our seeding. Good news is we should have a competitive game that does help seeding next year as it is an FBS game!

Gotta at least keep it close or it's worse than the game you alluded to.

Didn’t want to take a chance on third HC matchup.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but when Coach Stig was interviewed right after the Holy Cross game ended, his first words to the reporter, referring to the Holy Cross team, were: “That’s a helluva team over there.”
