As of when I am typing this at 3:36 pm on Friday. I know that this is a slow week with finals, but normally we would find something to talk about. How depressing.

Nothing is as depressing as watching an HC game on ESPN+ and seeing virtually no one there. There was a LOTTERY for STUDENT tickets when I was there.

The most dangerous thing that can happen to a sports program aren't angry fans, it's apathetic ones.

I just feel that everything's been said that can be about this unfortunate situation over the last few years and that there's little to do other than wait for the BN era to end. I will root for the team from afar, and withhold criticism of the players (who still look like they're playing hard), and probably even go to a game, but that's about it.

I think it says a lot about our fan base that a lot of us still watch and post here despite the last decade.
Hart could be a great atmosphere again with the right hire.

OK. . .
@unh this Monday. 4-6. Like HC, 2 of those wins have come against D-III opponents.
Their D-I wins are 74-71 vs BC and 83-71 vs Fairfield

Great minds think alike. Hopefully new leaders have a vision for what a successful hoops program can do for the college.

Reminds me of the night the top two teams in the country faced off at the Worcester Centrum. UMass vs Memphis. Place was packed and rocking. HC played Brown at the Hart Center in front of 200-300 fans. I think you know where I was based on my description.

I’m rooting for the team and truly hope they turn it around. The losing has taken a toll on the kids, the program, the fans and the school.
Assuming things don’t turn around and a coaching change is made…here’s something to consider. Unless you bring back Ralph Willard or land a big name coach (which, based on our history, is never out of the realm of possibility), enthusiasm around the program from a fan’s perspective is still going to be very low. Let’s say they get a young, quality “up and comer” with a good resume who brings in a good class of recruits and wins a few games in year 1. It’s still going to be a while before we get the energy and interest back in the program.
I believe the energy and passion will definitely return one day. But it’s going to take time, intelligent strategy, institutional commitment, and some good luck.

But it’s going to take time, intelligent strategy, institutional commitment, and some good luck. All good points. But the football program was generating very little interest when Chesney was hired. Winning can re-engage the fans very quickly. And we’re getting more locals coming to football games. If hoops starts winning, there’s no reason those same people won’t come to the Hart to watch good basketball.

I generally hit most games in New England. Also the next two games have been scheduled to minimize attendance, so UNH is the last chance for a couple of weeks
