Well, you don't walk into Lundholm and expect to win anymore. ;-) Daniels is legit. How did Herrion get him to Durham? He is a junior from a JC in Minnesota.

I thought the Tutic kid (Serbian) was pretty good. Total bruiser. Imagine him in the middle of Willard’s defense?

You wonder if Nelson has checked out. He knows he’s getting canned. Seems like everyone from the coaches to the players just went out there without a plan. It’s like we didn’t even know that Clarence Jackson might be their top player. When does spring football start? If this is the case (and hard to believe it isn’t), let’s move to an interim plan now. The only this worse than a hopeless case is watching it and not doing anything about it. I'm not a mid-season can man generally, but moving to an in-house interim now does give one last chance to make a decent showing in league play.

Showing some of the weaker qualities of the Marquette teams under Wojo.
Erratic D that was lost a lot, too many threes jacked up, and yadda yadda yadda. Got to hit the weights to bully opponents.
Tell me about Dave Paulsen... not bad with George Mason in a tough situation. He's an assistant at Fordham right now?

At least tonight we took only 18 threes out of 56 shots. Our 3 point % was higher than our 2 point % Defense was very weak.

It seemed that UNH was able to get many open looks beyond the 3-point line while most of HC’s 3 point attempts were closely guarded, forced, or rushed - Nolan and Joe excepted. Whether it’s the player, our offense, or their defense Will seems to never be able to have a good look at a 3. The current situation with the team is painful for everyone involved. Could it really be this bad for the entire year?

I don't think it makes a difference honestly firing the coach now or end of season. The team is not good and like I said would be lucky to win 6 games. Start the search process now quietly and let him go day after season ends.

Start the search process now quietly and let him go day after season ends. Two practical differences: 1) Might get a few more fans who would come out to support RJ as interim. Still wouldn’t get 1000 people at any home game but maybe an extra 100 people per game. 2) Can start the search in earnest and out in the open and get a three month jump on everyone else.

Based on body language at games, I don't think so It does seem to me that in some of the games, the players lose focus when they get down (which causes things to snowball). Not a lack of effort, but a little less focus that turns into mistakes

Its our only recourse to try and stay competitive with any Division I team. You can see how badly we're hurting when he's on bench with foul trouble. Opposing strategy for just about anyone should be to attack Gates early and force him to sit at least 8-10 min in the first half.

My fear is that it was too late before Nelson ever took over. The last incoming class that Carmody coached was terrible; the one he left for Nelson contained guys who would have been out of here regardless of whether he stayed; Nelson's terrible but he was also in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I truly feel sorry for everyone. I feel sorry for the players - having to put in all the time they do, knowing they really don't have a good shot of winning every time they step on the floor....must be horrible. Yes, I feel a bit sorry for the coaches, too. They realize their livelihoods are on the line; the losing stinks for them too. And of course, for us, the small band of fans that still are here.....I think we've paid our dues at this point, haven't we? With the news that we officially won't have Louth and Rabs back, we're down to 10 scholarship players. Just one gets hurt and they can't even have a decent practice. I just think it's going to be hard to win a single game going forward. It would be one thing if it looked like a couple of guys appeared to be ramping up their level of play, but I'm really not seeing it. My gosh, not sure I have the juice here to even click Post Quick Reply, it's so depressing.

We don't have the players. We play at least 3 guys who in baseball terms would be considered replacement level players in the Patriot League (that is, substandard compared to the average PL player). The 6 I'd consider average or better than average PL guys do not contain an experienced point guard or a decent large person. Therefore, you are correct.
