Thanks for the laugh, '92. Anyone know what a Health Sciences standout is? Maybe his major? Several of the guys who've "heard from HC" in the last week strike me as unusual. I think “Health Sciences” must be his high school. Sounds like a magnet school name. It's a charter school in Buffalo.

Speaking of Princeton, the Tiger's fine point-forward, Tousan Evbuomwan, who could have done a grad transfer year, has opted to sign with an agent and pursue an NBA career. Will be interesting to see if the Englishman gets drafted after his outstanding Ivy career.

Chances are he's been told, either by his agent or an NBA team, that he'll get a fair chance to make a team. Good luck to him.

Yes assuming he completes his thesis, he will graduate next month. I suspect he will need to develop a better outside shot and bulk up if he is to make an NBA roster.

Ten of Iona’s eleven returnees have entered the portal. And we complain about the 2019-20 team that only saw 3 players compete their senior year 2023-24 looks like a tough year for Iona. How many of them transferred to Iona and will have to sit a year?

Iona made a low level rank move to build a more successful basketball team. They brought in sleazy Rick Pitino & hired a group of basketball players. Pitino leaves & the hired guns leave too. No surprise. No sympathy for crappy Iona.

So I guess we can wait for the news that most of FDU's roster will transfer to Iona.....and then FDU can raid D-2 for some more players.....and so on and so on. Ain't college basketball in 2023 great?

There's a guy named Nick Timberlake who's in the portal.
We're talking Blutarski here- 4 years at Braintree High (hello, Jared); 1 year at Kimball Union, 5 years at Towson (played in 9 games his freshman year before shutting it down and getting a medical redshirt), now going for his second season as a graduate student. By the time the season rolls around, he'll be no younger than 25, maybe 26.

Let's call it the Langel model -- he's built such a better program than every other PL school because he's 1) used transfers very effectively (even before the portal was a thing) and 2) guys who enter the Colgate program aren't transferring out before graduation (those who do transfer use a fifth year elsewhere). When you get to this level, the program created very nearly runs itself.

...and avoiding the merely transactional and building true meaningful relationships. See Chesney 101. Apparently,Coach Paulsen is of the same mindset. Lots of joy, lots of love...

Nick was at Kansas this weekend, the moment he left a Coach on their staff reached out to me to see how I can help get Nick to Kansas. This coach (Coach Q) coached at HC my freshman year. Nick had 1 offer at Kimball Union, and I made multiple attempts to get HC to look at him. Here is is hoping we no longer overlook incredible local talent.

Hopefully Bo may follow suit. Bo wouldn't realistically be offered a significant NIL deal elsewhere, would he? He's a good player but has NIL expanded that much already?

I don’t think I’ve seen this here previously, but do any current HC players have NIL deals?

Paulsen has been named coach long enough for Bo to ask if he can come back (I thought you had to be approved to come back from portal). I hope these posts about NIL for Bo are baseless, if not he may need a change of scenery, Paulsen could do a lot with another schollie. Fun guy and all that but we're in worse shape than I imagined if he's dragged us into a negotiation.

Build from within the old fashioned way. Can you imagine the pressure created for minutes if a player's NIL is indirectly effected by playing time and performance. (Which by nature it inescapabley is) I haven't followed NIL closely enough to know for sure but I hope NIL payments tied directly to stats like points and rebounds is disallowed by some entity.
But I don't know if any entity could legally disallow that. The NIL is all about the free market and player's rights, not so much about the "Good of the game" that allowed MLB Commissioners to act authoritatively in the past.

Brookshire’s next school will be his third in three years after stints at Missouri and Iona. Assume he will have to sit a year.
