There is clearly a list of issues at Brandeis. Is any coach so totlally unable to modify their style to work with their team? If that is true, then no matter where this coach goes it will still be an issue for whatever team she is working with.

As the closest thing to a Psychologist posting, what would you describe as the best label for the player's demand? It's not passive aggressive I assume because it's an active threat but the threat doesn't actualize as harm to the coach it concludes with all eleven players quitting and the coach still employed. The players aren't doing what they control - quitting, but rather trying to control the coach and the school by not actually quitting but instead trying to force the coach to. Is there a commonly understood name for that tactic? Not necessarily siding with either party but curious about the tactic.

I think "blackmail" might fit, since this is a threat to take away the players from the coach if that coach stays. It does make me wonder what problems this coach had with recruiting - bringing in so many players who seem so opposed to this coach's techniques and personality.

I got a kick out of the coach being suspended; they bring a new coach in, same players; and the team doesn't do very well.
Then they claim that's because the new coach didn't have enough experience. Maybe it's because the players aren't very good.

Wait a minute. I am sure that each is a legend in her own mind.

Good opportunities to transfer in and compete for playing time for players stuck on the pine at other D-3 schools.

Many HC fans will remember that Shoniker was the #1 reason why Avery LaBarbera committed to Canisius. Then when Canisius fired their head coach, with Shoniker being collateral damage, LaBarbera decommitted.

I wish her the best of luck, I think she may need it.

I think coach Magarity should have Shoniker on her Christmas card list - no doubt Avery made our coach's transition to HC a lot smoother to say the least.

Other than Callie Wright who signed in early June, latest commit we every had. crossports.freeforums.net/thread/2569/avery-labarbera-2018-recruit

However, it is interesting that these players only won 5 games this past season and if a new coach is brought in all these returning players should be recruited over. One interesting tid bit is the story in the Globe references a dysfunctional relationship with her assistant coach. I believe that person was the Worcester Academy GBB coach this past season. Interesting that the WA job is now open. Finally, I wonder if enough time has past that BG could be a candidate for the WA job or is his reputation in disrepair. Their AD is Ed Reilly who was on Blaney's staff with BG years ago and I'm sure they are friends.

Article hardly scratched the surface.

I don't think any past issues would lead to current players or parents trying to block the hire. I think they would focus on the 600 D-1 wins instead and be enthused they might have value added with him over a typical hire who might have been an assistant somewhere or head coach at a lower level prep school. WA plays in a league where some kids go on to full scholarships at good D-1 schools (see HC MBB) and BG should be a better guide to that process than somebody who has never coached at that level.

The one Brandeis player I have any knowledge of is lucky to be playing even on a 5 win team, not a bad person or sub-par student, just not a very good basketball player. She'll be lucky if the new person still considers her a prospect.
