mm, HC played at Schaefer/Sullivan/Foxboro in '71 (snowstorm moved it from Fitton) and '83 (believe it or not, the game was supposed to be at Harvard Stadium, long story why it was going to be there and then why it ultimately wasn't).
86 game was at Fitton, in the worst mud imaginable. Yes, Troy Stradford played in that game. And 6 or 7 other guys played at least a year in the NFL, including Kelvin Martin and Bill Romanowski.
And, yes, after an early pair of TD's, BC killed us. They were a darned good team

THANK YOU! Bill Simmons! I couldn't remember his name for the life of me. He's a great broadcaster. I assume he is interested in the game.Hope he would say something. Thanks again.I truly appreciate your thoughtful act of kindness. Not sure I’d classify him as a broadcaster / on camera guy. The one time ESPN gave him a shot with Jalen Rose on some NBA show, he was a major flop. He does have a successful podcast and used to be a must-read before he got to Hollywood. His columns in The Crusader were great back in the day. Yes, I mostly wrote that so I could say “The Crusader” instead of The Stupid Spire.

They were a darned good team We spent several weeks at T-2nd place in 1-AA polls that year ('86) and only dropped to 5th place following the one-sided loss to BC. Pulling the plug on the mismatched (I-A v I-AA) annual series, IMHO, was a wise and perhaps inevitable move by Father Brooks. I suspect the 1983 game v Boston College may have been a contributor to that final decision.

We also played at Schaefer in 1970 or 1971 when Fitton was covered with snow Schafer Stadium was such a dump. I remember going to a Pats game there with my dad. By halftime all of the toilets had overflowed. What a mess! Gillette looks like the Taj Mahal compared to that stadium. And Gillette just had to have MASSIVE renovations to become more modern. Tennessee's stadium which opened three years earlier (similar design) is already being replaced.

I believe HC did in fact score. BC also had a couple of fleet footed backs who easily turned the corner on our "D" & scampered down the field. Clearly, remember a BC tackler pointing at & taunting a downed HC player. I felt like kicking that BC kid in the ..... Don't remember the actual score but it was a rout. It was a painful drubbing. I'm sure the guys on the team were terribly disappointed but hopefully not demoralized. They were undefeated in regular season 1AA games. '86 was another nightmare. High hopes after the two HC scores turned into a nightmare with BC pounding HC repeatedly for TDs. Agree entirely with Pride's conclusion.

Re: Harvard. They wanted to reverse the home/away order and agreed to have the next game at a neutral site, Harvard, rather than have two in a row at BC.
But then ABC decided to pick up the game and wanted it at night. Harvard had no lights, so it got moved to Foxboro.
Then, ABC changed the start time to noon.

Like I suspect others have done over the years, I think of what might have been for students, athletes, the Worcester community, and our endowment if the BOT had the courage to challenge certain decisions by the President but today is a new day and an opportunity to review the financial and academic environment for the Holy Cross community. If we invest in the right programs.and opportunities we can get this right. Does that include the PL ? I don’t believe so, but time and brighter minds will help us get it right
