Thanks for the update
An interesting group that will get better each week
How was the communication on the floor, I believe that is also a point of emphasis with most of his teams
Full Speed ahead

Real good summary by DiMarz. I would add that I was most impressed with Ryan, he seemed very accomplished for a freshman big and was going 100% the whole time he was out there. Batch was very smooth and scored from in close and from beyond the arc. Joe and Caleb were battling underneath and scoring with a variety of moves; they both seemed more confident and assertive than last year. This is a very impressive freshman class - five solid contributors in the years ahead. Jaden was the only one missing (at some kind of work study thing I think). Everyone else looked healthy and going at their full speed. Coach mentioned that this is only the second day of the whole squad being healthy and together.

How did Rabs look ?

Rabs looked healthy to me; was moving well. He seemed pretty upbeat in chatting with him for a moment after. The A team that DiMarz spoke of also had Singleton as the 6th man. Have to think there will be a lot of competition for playing time - there really didn't seem to be anyone out there that made you think "there's no way he's getting off the bench." I too was pleasantly surprised with Ryan - he just needs to keep working on his body. At the same time, he seems to know how to make his wide body work for him in the post. Think he went 5-6 on free throws as well. Louth too looked pretty normal to me with his movement (and as mentioned a couple of weeks ago, a leaner version).
Overall, they definitely could use some length; wish there was one more 6-8/6-9 guy in the group. But this looks like a group that can really grow under the new staff. Agree that there was a nice vibe in the gym.

Also meant to say that rebounding is going to have to be a team mission this year. Will be interesting to see that aspect when they face a real opponent a few weeks from now.

Did Capron appear to be in the rotation?
I forget who it was, but a few weeks ago one of our valued posters mentioned he looked to be playing well in practice.

The injury bug seems to have mostly subsided. Unlike Homecoming, Rabs and Coulibaly participated fully, although their minutes were managed.
The offense is ahead of the defense.
A good chuck of the practice was a scrimmage with a few situational interruptions. What I assume was the 2nd squad (Rabs Tse Nugent, Williams Wills with Ryan as a sub and a cameo from McIntyre) won. The optimist in me says that this team has some depth and the non-starters will be pushing the starters in practice.
I have no clue who that 12th or 13th man on the bench is going to be. I know. . . not very insightful but that's all I got

Were there refs for the scrimmage portion or did coaches whistle it to set up situations?

With five freshmen on the squad there will be inconsistency. The five guys that start a game might not be the same five on the floor when the game ends. Hopefully with the kids developing as the season progresses, the starting 5 in November might not be the same 5 in February. Even though I don't think a NCAA trip is probable, I am more excited about this season than I have been in a while

Were there refs for the scrimmage portion or did coaches whistle it to set up situations? Real live zebras; we gave them a break and left them alone....for now. Guys with better memories can correct/fill in the blanks, but they started with a 20 minute "second half", with the score tied at 30. Then they played a 5 minute OT(?) with a tie score, then a second 4 minute OT with the starters up by 3(?). I know they also had a 2 minute OT, with score tied, and an end game 4 seconds left situation (I'm probably screwing this up, so someone help). The full half was pretty much normal; I think they took timeouts every 4 minutes or so.

Best news from my standpoint are the Ryan reports. If we have just one guy who can turn his back, seal off his man, control an entry pass, and have one semi-reliable offensive move it will make a huge difference with our up and coming perimeter game. Did Nugent play any 4? Kenney in HS was pretty wily around the basket but not a low down player. And who appears to be the likely PG?

The way they split up the teams pretty much made Nugent a 4 whenever he was in there, paired up with either Ryan or Rabs. In a similar vein, with Tse, Wills and Williams all on one team, it pretty much left Batch running the show for the A team.

Thanks, NAD. A few more queries. Did Singleton play any point ? One attendee mentioned that many 3s were made. Who were the main makers ? How was the defensive rebounding. ? Who were the best at it ? Which freshmen played the best ?

During the scrimmage portion Coulibaly and Rabs played the exact same minutes. When they were in Kenney matched up with Nugent. When they were out, Ryan came in and Kenney matched up with Ryan and Octave moved over to match up with Nugent

Which freshmen played the best ? I don't think Singleton played any point, but there is a lot of player and ball movement.. Ryan stands out as a 3 point shooter along with Batch. Singleton, Williams, Bo, Joe O. plus perhaps a few others made 3's. It seemed to me that a lot of 3's went up, and the D wasn't very good at defending them. The offense is really a drive and kick. SOOO IF the guys can make them consistently, all will be good.. Rebounding was pretty physical. Louth, Caleb and Ryan, all did a good job. IMHO, Ryan played the best. He is a very good inside offensive force. At least he was against his teammates.

An in shape and conditioned Ryan has great upside and if I heard correctly from a few scouts, has the potential, while a great curse, to be a three year all PL level player
The future with Ryan and Hare around the basket, and yes they can shoot the three, makes us challengers to the title immediately
Incredible strategic recruiting for what we are and have been needs to be applauded imho, and my instincts say the next few weeks will only make it better
Sign up and get to games and support a new version of the mid 70s Crusaders- it is happening, don't be late to join
Football success has made this possible - Chesney and staff made this possible so we should double or triple his salary and be prepared to do the same for Paulsen and Magarity in the next 24 months
