A HS bball fan. Saw a lot of games. So I follow several teams now. To see how they do. Figured I could Monday morning QB along with the rest of you.

Of course coaches will say they never read this Board. I don't believe for a minute. I hope coaches at any school don't read their teams message boards. These coaches know more about their sports then we could ever forget. No need to listen to bunch of folks that have never coached at that level and think they know more then they do! Some coaches and admins read and for the most part chuckle at the absurdity. In my experience, there's appreciation and respect for the passion but at some point you have to ignore it, especially with the fan boards turn into a public referendum on someone's job. Comes with the territory though.

Hopefully the larger-than-usual crowd at the Colgate matinee will get the girls out of their funk

JRGNYR- There are at least two former head coaches that regularly post here. I'm guessing there are former HC players here as well. Many others have been careful observers of bball for decades. I have been here for a few years. There have been many instances when it was absolutely clear that an HC HC was doing bonehead stuff. If I were in their shoes, trying to protect a large income for me and my family and my professional reputation, I would peruse this Board if nothing else just on the remote chance that I might pick up something that might benefit me and my team from people that are close observers of my team--but that's just me.

You just cemented how delusional and out of touch with reality you are with that statement. If a Div I head coach is turning to an anonymous chat room for coaching strategy they should be fired immediately.

Ridiculous. Shows me your naive understanding of human nature.

Ridiculous. Shows me your naive understanding of human nature. I would say the chances of a Holy Cross basketball coach looking to this board for advice is maybe one in 1 million. Probably less than that.

Certainly less.

I'm not suggesting that this Board would be a coach's main source or even that he checks it out regularly. But some here seem to think he never checks it out. I don't believe that. Even though the number of posters here are relatively few, we represent one of a coach's constituencies, i.e., rabid alumni fans who follow the team closely and have done so for a very long time and have some understanding of the institution that is HC. Successful people don't ignore their constituencies. Do you think this Board had no influence whatsoever on ADNP as regards CMB?

During postgame audio on Weei, Coach Carmody said if anyone out there have any ideas send them 😀

Why are the last two posts on the women's basketball thread? Since I was at the men's game and didn't listen to weei, I can't comment. But asking if anyone has any ideas to send to him, sounds more in the character of "BG" than "BC." If the men's team is having a hard time, the ladies team is off the charts with problems based on their respective records. Edit: While I was typing, Crucis posted, so I mean the two before. Move these to the men's thread unless it was really Gibbons, not Carmody who made the comment. Edit edit : Crucis moved or deleted his post, so I am back to the prior two posts.

My mistake, the post was intended for the Men's forum regarding suggestions and ideas. 😄

No need to listen to bunch of folks that have never coached at that level and think they know more then they do!"[ ]Carmody did say something like "if any one out there have any ideas", but of course it was tongue in cheek 😘. (Not sure if Carmody actually said "ideas " as Dick Lutsk interrupted him mid- sentence as he is apt to do, but that was definitely implied ). It was just another case showing Carmody's dry humor.

Doherty isn't bringing the ball up the court against Navy's full court press. She's not scoring or rebounding. Why is she out there?

No nonsense from me about how this was a "good loss." However, aside from the first half turnovers (and they are a lot to move past), the team is improving. Manis is for real and they could take a game or two in the PL tournament. After all, Navy was 7-1 coming into this and it was anybody's game at the end. I hope the improvement continues.

The lack of player development is a glaring problem IMHO. The only counter-example is Byrne. She has really emerged. Infiniti was always good. Hasenauer has not improved. Neither has Ganser. Doherty has regressed. At 2:18 she committed an avoidable foul on a missed 3 pt shot that was followed by two made free throws. Then on our next possession she launched a three from way out that missed everything. The other players don't get enough minutes to get a read.

by our standards a good shooting game from the field 42%, but 10 of 19 (52%) from the line obviously hurt. i've also seem enough of doherty. 20 games in and her shooting has not turned around. time to sit her and ganser and turn to a couple of frosh to play some of those minutes. this team has been injury-free and has a great player in manis. I would call this another sub-par coaching job by gibbons. he's had a few lately. colgate on the road on wednesday will be interesting. they beat us at home with less talent, and to be swept by colgate would be embarrassing.

How times have changed with our decline in recent years - from the Navy write-up of the game: "Navy has now swept Holy Cross five times and has a 7-2 record against the Crusaders at Holy Cross after the Navy program never swept the Crusaders and had just one win at the Hart Center in its first 17 seasons in the Patriot League."
