Could be. And for all we know, Chesney and Kennedy wanted extra time to install some packages with JP and Sluka on the field at the same time. That pairing would be surprising to me. Matt is a great running QB, better when the pass option breaks down. QB is a very different position from RB. Yes...but when Sluka is on the field, all eyes go towards him. If nothing else, he's a distraction and something else to worry about.

A VERY slight hint we might be able to see Matt & Jake back for West Point. (fingers crossed!). I’m still holding my breath for Jarmo to potentially return these final 2 weeks. Probably weighing trade-offs of the med redshirt at this point. Will be very interesting to see who takes the field on Saturday. I’ll be there in person for the first time this year! Hopefully reliving some of the magic of the 2002 game.

It would not necessarily hurt Sluka's future prospects to show he can catch a short pass and run with it.

We were among the best teams in the country last year in turnover margin. This year, we are -2 in turnovers. To win on Saturday, I think we've got to -- at the very least -- be net positive in the turnover battle.

Wonder if Coach would consider going back to a rotating QB schedule for the game if Sluka is still not 100%?
I too have wondered if there existed "In case of fire" play package with both guys in the game at the same time.

They had been killed by turnovers this year until Air Force. The two games they lost where they were favored (ULM and UMASS) they were -3 in turnovers in EACH game. -4 v LSU didn’t help the boat racing nor did -3 to Troy in a 19-0 loss to one of the best Defense’s statistically in FBS. Obviously Air Force never stood a chance -6 (puts our -6 to Harvard in some perspective) and Army was also +1 in their underdog win over UTSA. The correlation of net turnovers/possessions to W/L shouldn’t be that surprising even as a favorite or underdog.

And might I add SOV, winning the ST battle. In 2002, Ari long KR return for a TD and another that set-up a FG. Also two long runs on reverses/end arounds that led to points. Win ST’s and TO’s is a must this weekend. Won’t be a game w/o those two. If memory servers, Ari had like 330 all-purpose yards that day.

It's scary watching the kickoff and punt squads- so out of position you can see the open space for the returner before the guy gets started! In some cases, the crappy kickoffs that went oob and short punts were a good thing for HC. Basically were giving up a first down to the opponent but usually no more than that. Both areas have improved of late, but it's resulted in damaging runbacks.

Crazy memory -- I was sitting in my den listening to the 2002 HC-Army football game on the radio. It was an Army radio broadcast. Army scored a touchdown and took the lead (not sure of the score; may have been 17-14). I got up for a trip to the bathroom. I come back, and all of a sudden the radio announcer is giving the score with Holy Cross ahead (maybe 21-17). During my brief absence, Ari Confesor had run the kickoff back for a touchdown.

I do think our kick/punt coverage improved in the Lehigh game. D and ST trending up. I hope we can be even better against Army. The way Army methodically moves the ball on the ground and their lack of a deep passing attack means we need to give them as long of a field as possible. No short fields and gimmes off returns.
Win ST and turnovers!
