LOL If you like the civic pride that the stadium brings, then no judgment. But this is not, nor has it ever been, a positive economic generator. Imagine if the city invested the $150m+ on other infrastructure in the area. Would there be three apartment buildings and a couple of parking garages? Madison Properties (the primary developer) was already looking at the area before it even knew the team might be coming (the head of this company admitted this at the announcement of the team at city hall). At that public investment, there should there be even more development. Look at other areas of downtown, which also were developed under a TIF similar to Polar Park. But the city gave the TIF to a firm that employs a very small number full-time workers (given its footprint) and attracts people 60-70 days per year. Despite promises from the team (who controls programming at Polar Park), not much else of significance happens there outside of an annual HC football game. Roughly 300 days a year not much is happening in the area. Look up the concert issue at the stadium. It's depressing. And 40 years from now is irrelevant. By that point, the original lease between the team is over (32 more years on it) and the team might already be gone for greener ($) pastures. You know, like it did to Pawtucket. Enjoy your holidays

And how is 40 years irrelevant? This board still talks about the Big East decision 40 years later.

The Boston Red Sox affiliation agreement is as important as the lease itself; wonder how long that is. Not sure why teams change affiliation. Sox have to be one of the closest to the parent club in the majors. Sox can call up a player at 5:00 in the afternoon and have him at Fenway for a 7:00 start. That is worth something; They are one of the closest but Gwinnett is only 36 minutes from Cumberland, Georgia. Also, St. Paul is the affiliate of the Twins might be closer than that.

Lucchino's stated public intention from three weeks ago to sell to a "local buyer" didn't have much merit. By selling to a NYC based company with California ownership, Larry once again shows himself to be a snake.

Lucchino is a great man and every Holy Cross alum should be very proud of his HC connections through Edward Bennett.

FYI, his last name is Williams, not Bennett, which is his middle name. We get your point though.
